Almendarez, 78, of Odessa, a former Santa Fe Railway foreman and minister, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at his residence. Services were held Wednesday at the Apostolic Assembly Church with the Rev. Roman Arreolo officiating. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home. He was born in Alpine and served as minister for 27 years. SURVIVORS: Wife, Guadalupe Almendarez of Odessa; sons, Pete Almendarez Jr. and John Almendarez, both of Odessa, Roy Almendarez of Midland and Ben Alemendarez of Pecos; daughters, Delores Contreras of Fort Stockton, Epifania Escobar of Houston, Esperanza "Hope" Acosta of Lewisville, Elia Dominguez of Houston, Priscilla Niño of Odessa, and Elodia Hinojos of Phoenix; brothers, Transito Almendarez and Victoriano Almendarez, both of Fort Stockton; sister, Gloria Dolbow of Midland; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great- grandson. Linda Doerr MIDLAND - Linda Jeanne Doerr, 53, of Midland, a teacher, died on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, in Lubbock. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland with Chaplain Rick Foster officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery Midland. Charles Herring Charles Anthony "Tony" Herring, 58, of Odessa, a gemologist, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, in a Midland hospital. He was born in Big Spring and moved to Odessa from Big Spring, where he had lived for 30 years. He was a Methodist. He was the vice president of Agnew Jewelers in Odessa for 25 years. SURVIVORS: Son, Brian Herring of Jupiter, Fla.; daughter, Toynette Herring of Odessa; parents, Charles and Mozelle Herring of Big Spring; and four grandchildren.
