James Fitzgerald Sr.
ODESSA - James Randolph Fitzgerald Sr., 61, of Odessa a FEMA instructor, died 
Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Hospice House.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. 
Woody Allen officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements 
by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. 
He was born in Fort Worth and was a member of Community Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Illa G. Fitzgerald of Odessa; father, Thomas R. Fitzgerald; 
daughters, Nina Xan Simonson of Mesa, AZ., Gina Ann Thomas of Truth or 
Consequences, N.M., and Robina Esquivel of San Marcos; son James Randolph 
Fitzgerald of El Paso; sisters, Nadine Sellers of Grandbury, and Lenora Nelson 
of Denver City; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Candida Rangel
FORT STOCKTON - Candida Rangel, 74, of Fort Stockton, a housewife, died 
Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, in Odessa.
Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Catholic Church with the Rev. David 
Herrera officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at St. Agnes Catholic 
Church. Burial will be in Fort Stockton Cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton 
Funeral Home.
She was born in Fort Stockton and was a lifelong resident. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Refugio Rangel Jr., Salvador Rangel Sr., Amando Rangel Sr., 
Ysmael Rangel and Noel Rangel all of Fort Stockton, and Remigio Rangel of 
Midland; brother, Mike Munoz Sr. of Fort Stockton; sister, Louisa Celeya of 
Houston; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ethel Scott
CRANE - Ethel L. Scott, 81 of Crane, died Saturday, October 19, 2002 at her home 
in Odessa.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel 
with the Rev. Steve Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County 
Cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
She was born in Wall and was a longtime resident of Crane.
SURVIVORS: Sisters, Billie J. Wilkins of Odessa, Earlene Shaver of Monahans, and 
Velma Williams of Abilene; 5 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and one 
great-great-grandchild. 

Wanda Utsinger
AMARILLO - Wanda Utsinger, 80, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, in 
Amarillo.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bell Avenue Church of Christ with Glen 
Walton officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements by 
Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors.
She was a resident of Odessa for 38 years and had lived in Amarillo for 15 
years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Neal Utsinger of Amarillo; son, Kelly Utsinger of Amarillo; 
daughter, Jill Whitener of Amarillo; sisters; Lola Jackson of Checotah, Okla., 
Wilma Hembree of Konawa, Okla., and Donna Casteel of Edmond, Okla.; four 
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Sam O'Bannon
MONAHANS - Sam O'Bannon, age not listed, of Monahans, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 
2002, in North Richland Hills.
Services are pending with Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.

MONAHANS - Raul Ortega, 87, of Monahans, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, in 
Monahans.
