All rights reserved ============================================================================================ January 04, 2002 Permian Basin Obituaries Roxanne Avila ODESSA - Memorial services for Roxanne Avila, 16, of Odessa will be held at a later date. Roxanne died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital from injuries suffered in a traffic accident. She was born Jan. 14, 1985, in California. She was Pentecostal. Survivors include her father, Joe Munoz of Odessa; her mother, Julie Maldonado of Odessa; a loving friend and special thanks to Viviana Minjarez of Odessa; a son, Marcos Angel Avila of Odessa; grandparents, Manuel Lucero and Vivian Lucero, both of California; sisters, Lisa Avila of California, Pamela Munoz of Odessa; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Services are entrusted to Martinez Funeral Home. Rany Nessel ODESSA - We celebrate the life of Randy Nessel. Randy was a devoted husband and best friend to his wife. Randy was a loving and involved father and uncle. He was close to all his family and loved them dearly. His friendships were all very meaningful to him. Randy also remained close to his Navy buddies throughout his life. He gave so much of himself to others without expecting anything in return. Randy accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior of his life. Randy has run the race that Paul talks about in his letters to Timothy. He has surrendered to his Holy Will, and made straight his path to His loving, caring, eternal, arms. We thank God for sharing such a wonderful man, Randy Nessel, with us all. Randall Curtis Nessel, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at his home in Odessa. Randy leaves his wife, Priscilla, and two children, Ryan and Kelly. Other survivors are his mother, Marshallene Perez, his brother Marshall Nessel, both of Odessa and his father, W.R. Nessel of Angola, Indiana, and step-dad Nicolas Perez. Others very close to him were his wife’s family. Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Page, Mr. and Mrs. Ismael Quintanar, Raymond Quintanar, Anna Quintanar, and V.J. Hopson. He also leaves his step-brothers, Nicolas C. Perez, Donnie Perez, Marco Perez, and step-sister, Dolores Saar, a number of cousins and aunts and uncles. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Life Unlimited Church with Rev. Don Palmer officiating. Randy was with us for 37 years. He was born in Florence, Arizona, on August 4, 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1982 to 1988. He and Priscilla were married August 20, 1988. He worked for Brandon & Clark, Inc. before his illness. Suggested memorials may be made to Project A.L.S, Avenue of the Americas, PMB 341 New York, NY 10011, in memory of Randy Nessel. Billie McClendon Odom MIDLAND - Mrs. Odom was born July 23, 1932, in Pettit, Texas, to Albert and Della McClendon. She was raised and educated there. Billie has lived in the Midland community for the past 41 years and married Gene Odom in Midland on July 17, 1949. Mrs. Odom was preceded in death by her parents and sister Wanda Hartis. She is survived by her husband; son, Ron Odom and his wife Janie of Leander, Texas; daughter, Diane and her husband James Montag of Lago Vista, Texas; sister, Betty McGlothlin of Lubbock, Texas. Also surviving are five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Billie died January 1, 2002, at a Midland hospital. Graveside services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at Resthaven Memorial Park with Rev. Gail Reeves officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home
