Lucille Holmans died January 11, 2002, in the Reagan County Care Center in Big Lake, Texas. Services will be today, Jan. 14, 2002, at Cooper Funeral Chapel in Kermit, Texas. Burial will follow in the Kermit Cemetery. Lucille was born Sept. 3, 1907, in Mullin, Texas. She married Hector G. Holmans on Jan. 1, 1927, in Coleman County, Texas. They lived in Kermit for more than 50 years. Lucille loved playing dominoes and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hector and a grandson, Dean Anderson. Lucille is survived by her sons, Harold G. Holmans and wife Bonnie of Jal, N.M., and George Holmans and wife Bonnie Mae of New Braunfels, Texas; daughters, Wanell Stroud and husband Jimmie of Odessa and Anita Gregg and husband Gerry of Big Lake; sister, Ella Brown of Coleman; brothers, J.D. Pitts of Odem, Texas, and George Robert Pitts of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Family requests memorials be made to The Reagan County Care Friends at Reagan County Care Center in Big Lake. Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel, Kermit, Tx. Kathleen Gibbs Leach ODESSA - Kathleen Gibbs Leach was born in Peru, Kansas, on May 21, 1915. She attended Caney High School and received a life certificate to teach from Kansas State Teachers College. She married Woodrow Leach in 1936. They moved to Odessa in 1940. She belonged to the First Methodist Church where she joined the women’s society of Christian services in 1941 and served as president in 1964. Kathleen belonged to the Thursday Study Club and was president in 1951. She was a charter member of the women’s auxiliary to Medical Center Hospital and a charter member of Volunteers for Vision. Mrs. Leach was a member of the Auxiliary to the Texas Optometric Association and served their board. She received the Diana Award in 1976 for community service. She was preceded in death by a son, James Leach and a grandson. She is survived by her husband on 65 years, Woodrow Leach of Odessa; two daughters, Sharon O’Dell of Andrews and Nancy Bayless of Phoenix; one sister, Margaret Dussair of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at First Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Monday with Steve Trout and Bill Heggemeier officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to First Methodist Church in Odessa. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
