All rights reserved ============================================================================================ January 17, 2002 Permian Basin Obituaries E.A. 'Noc' Naquin MIDLAND - E.A. "Noc" Naquin passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at his residence in Midland. Noc was born April 5, 1930, in Montegut, La., to Elie and Eunice Naquin. In 1954, he married Lillian Marie Leger in Crowley, La. Prior to his retirement, Noc was a drilling supervisor with Superior and Mobil Oil Co. His parents and two brothers, Elie Naquin Jr. and Elgin Naquin, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Lillian of Midland; sons, Wayne Naquin of Lubbock and Stephen Naquin and his wife Judy of Cleveland, Tenn.; daughters, Amy Whiteaker and husband Buck of Houma, La., Stephanie Lentz of Midland and Jennifer Stewart and husband Eddie of Midland; brothers, Elphe Naquin and wife Grace of Houma, La., and Elward Naquin and wife Nancy of Houma, La.; sister, Elma Martin and husband Thad of Houma, La.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitations will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Jan. 17, 2002, at Ellis Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings, La. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. at the Matthews and Son Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Funeral Mass has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at St. Jules Chapel. Interment will follow at Petite Mamou in Evangeline, La. Patty Sue Jordan ODESSA - Patty Sue (Haley) Jordan died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at 9:30 a.m. from cancer. The second of six children of Nevel and Geneva Haley, Patty was born and grew up in San Angelo. She loved learning and enjoyed school. She became a licensed vocational nurse under the training of Mrs. Marie Hoover, R.N., in 1970. She obtained her first degree at Angelo State University, where she became a registered nurse. Returning to the university setting, she obtained her bachelor and masters degrees in medical/surgical nursing at the University of Texas at El Paso. She was an operating room nurse for a quarter century, also working simultaneously in numerous intensive care units over the years. She was the president of the Permian Basin Chapter of the Association of Operating Room Nurses in the 1970s, a member of the American Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau. She was nationally certified as a clinical nurse specialist in medical surgical nursing. She was also an assistant professor of nursing at Odessa College, teaching critical care during the time of her illness. A believer in lifelong learning, she was a doctoral student in higher education at Texas Tech University, having completed three years of course work. Patty is survived by her four sons, John Martin and his wife Allison and daughters Nicci, Nicole, Marisa and son Michael of Austin, James Martin of Euless, Daniel Martin and his wife Cheryl and son Jacob of Lubbock and David Worner, M.D., of Irving. She is also survived by five siblings, Iris Culp and her husband Dr. Robert Culp of El Paso, Beverly Pippin and her husband John of Duncanville, Patrick Haley of Carrollton, Johnny Mack Haley of Orlando, Fla., and Nevie Lacy and her husband Kent of San Angelo; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will be at her residence, 412 E. 52nd St., in Odessa, for a service to celebrate her life between 2 and 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002. Friends are invited to attend. Patty believed in and supported organ donation and tissue retrieval. Her body was donated to further medical research. It was her wish that any memorials be made to the scholarship fund at Angelo State University endowed for her parents, Nevel and Geneva Haley, to assist students in pursuit of their education and future.
