Permian Basin Obituaries Copyright © 1999 - 2002 Odessa American. All rights reserved ============================================================================================ January 18, 2002 Permian Basin Obituaries Thomas Wayne Carter ODESSA - Thomas Wayne Carter died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, in Abilene. Tom was born Aug. 28, 1946, in Roswell, N.M. Tom was a veteran of the Navy. He served his country proudly from Sept. 9, 1963, through Aug. 25, 1967, earning the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. Tom left a long list of accomplishments, one being the co-chair of the COC of N.W. Texas (Confederation of Clubs) and equally active in the TMRA II (Texas Motorcycle Rights Association). He steadfastly fought, on every level of the Texas government, for biker rights. His travels took him as far as California to the west and Florida to the east. He stayed on top of things so he could educate bikers on things that concerned their freedom, rights and lifestyle. His goal was to have every motorcycle rider in Texas a registered, educated and active voter. Big Tom was also an active member of The Last Few M/C in Odessa. He held National Road Captain at the time of his death. Tom was a member in good standing for the last 15 years. He constantly traveled from chapter to chapter to visit with his brother and lend a hand if needed. Tom was a true brother. Tom left numerous brothers and sisters in his death. Tom considered The Last Few M/C his family and made every effort to spend time with every one of them. When Tom left the clubhouse to take a little ride, you never knew how long it would be until you saw him again. But you knew in a week or two you'd hear that big Harley headed to the house. Then you could count on several hours of entertainment listening to his tales of woe. Tom, ride long and hard, brother. When the time comes, we'll ride with you again. We love and miss you, brother. Ride free forever. LFFFLF Services will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at The Last Few M/C Clubhouse.
