Daniel Crawford, age 70, died Saturday, March 16, 2002, in Odessa. She was born April 26, 1931, in Gober. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, March 20, 2002, at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham. Interment will follow at Arledge Ridge Cemetery. There will be no local services. Mrs. Crawford retired from Dunlap's Department Store after many years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Damon R. Crawford in August 1972, and her parents, Mina and Doyle Daniel. She is survived by sons, Dan Crawford and wife Linda of Austin and Dickie Crawford of Odessa; daughter, Debbie Adame and her husband Louie of Odessa; granddaughter, Angie Sterling and her husband Robert of Odessa; grandson, Justin Crawford of Odessa; two great-grandchildren, Svana and Jakobe Sterling; sisters, Tuffie Mankin of Lubbock, Carol Carter of Plano and Pat Lawson of Angleton; a brother-in-law, Ray Cooper of Bonham; and many wonderful nieces and nephews also survive her. The family wishes to thank the wonderful and caring staff in the ICU unit at Odessa Regional Hospital and the many wonderful specialists and doctors. James, 65, of Odessa passed away Monday, March 18, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born June 30, 1936, in Spur. Jim married Nell Smith May 18, 1957, and moved to Odessa in 1963. Jim worked in the oilfields and came to own and retired from J.S.M. Drilling in 1997. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother, John. He is survived by his loving, Nell "Nana" James; sons, Danny James and Lann James and wife Heidi; daughter, Sabrina Jones, all of Odessa; brothers, Bill James of Mansfield and Joe James of Brownwood; sisters, Odell Howton of Duncan, Okla., and Marciel McAlpin of Abilene; eight grandchildren, Scott and Krista Wiehle of New Haven, Conn., Will and Crystal Jones of Odessa, Daniel James of Roswell, N.M., Laci James of Odessa and Brandyn James of Ozona; three great-grandchildren, Carson Pardue, Kennedy Wiehle and Mason James; and a host of nieces and nephews. Jim was a devoted husband, dad, granddad, brother and uncle. Aside from being a dedicated family man, he loved Mojo football. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Griffin Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Jerry C. Walters ODESSA - Jerry C. Walters, 42, of Odessa passed away Saturday, March 16, 2002, in Rocksprings. Mr. Walters was born Feb. 24, 1959, in Iraan. Jerry spent the early years of his life with his parents in Midland where he attended West Elementary and played little league. His sister remembers how agile he was doing flips on the trampoline. He also loved to roam the hills in Crockett County with his beloved Aunt Evelyn and went deer hunting with Uncle Russell. When Jerry was 10 years old, his father, James, died, and he was a supreme comfort to his mother, Mildred, until the time of her death three years later. After his mother's death, he moved to Odessa and was raised by his older sister Nedra and her husband Rodney McDonald with children Ronnie Osborne and Marc McDonald. He attended Hood Junior High and graduated from Permian High School in 1978. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he enjoyed learning to ski and at Eileson Air Force Base in Alaska where he loved to watch the glorious display of the Northern Lights. Jerry completed Air Force service in 1983 and joined siblings, Martha and Nedra, for a visit at brother Jim's in California. He returned to Odessa and married Vivian Robbins on March 31, 1984, and helped raise Vivian's daughter LeCrishina. Their daughter Dara was born Jan. 10, 1986, and was her father's pride and joy. Vivian and Jerry were divorced in 1988. Jerry loved to sing and care for animals. He was an avid fisherman. He loved to play softball and coached his daughter's little league team. He was currently employed by Halliburton Services while concurrently serving in the National Guard. His unit had been recently deployed to guard the U.S.-Mexico border. He had also worked in West Texas for Consolidated Electrical Distributors and the Texas Department of Transportation. He is survived by his daughter, Dara Dawn Walters of Naples, Fla.; a brother, James A. Walters III of North Hollywood, Calif.; two sisters, Nedra McDonald and her husband Rodney of Odessa and Martha Barber and her husband Richard of Anchorage, Alaska. Public visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today, March 20, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clydel Chapman officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. W.D. Martin LUBBOCK - Graveside services will be held for W.D. Martin, 57, of Euless at 3:30 p.m. today, March 20, 2002, at the City of Lubbock Cemetery in Lubbock. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of White Funeral Home of Lubbock where the family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today. He died Sunday, March 17, 2002. He was born June 29, 1944, in Lampasas. He graduated from Reagan County High School in Big Lake and from Texas Tech University. He was self-employed as a certified public accountant in Euless. Survivors include a son, Mike Martin; a daughter, Casey Martin, both of Lubbock; his parents, Leona and Wayne Jones of Big Lake; three sisters, Gayle Gray of Wichita Falls, Waynette Foster of Big Lake and Deona Thompson of Fort Worth; and three grandsons, Ryan, Reed and Riley Martin of Lubbock. Sterling Harding KERMIT - Sterling Franklin "Spec" Harding, a lifelong resident of Wink, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2002, at his residence. He was 68. Spec was born Dec. 14, 1933, in Wink to Conley and Anna Harding. He married Linda Lou Norton on Dec. 4, 1955. She preceded him in death in 1999. Spec worked for years in the oilfield and ran Kermit Television Repair until his illness took over. Spec was an Army veteran and a Methodist. Spec was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Norton Harding; his mother, Anne LaVera Blakeney Harding; his father, Conley Houston Harding; and sisters, Wanda Faye Harding McClellan, Gloria Ann Harding Harris and Kathryn Sue Harding Wiltshire. He is survived by his daughter, Joela Ruth Harding Smith; grandson, Chance D. Smith; brother, Horace Houston Harding; sisters, Betty Harding Dennis and Charlotte Harding Rodriguez; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2002, at the Kermit Cemetery. Harkey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Dave Henon Farmer Jr. ODESSA - Dave H. Farmer Jr., 74, went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2002. He was born Dec. 20, 1927, in Oklahoma to Dave H. and Irene Howard Farmer. He married Betty Jo Watts of Sheridan, Ind., in January 1949. His occupation as tool and die maker brought him to Texas in 1956 and to West Texas in 1970. He worked for Meter Service and Supply Co. in Odessa and opened his own business, BJF Screw Products Co., in 1984 until his retirement in 1990. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Sherrie Morris and Tammie Farmer; his parents; and a sister, Delano Billingsley of Arkansas. He is survived by his wife and five children, John Kenneth Farmer of Lodi, Calif., George Morris of Lovington, N.M., Larry Morris, Davetta Burns and Mikel Farmer of Midland; three brothers, Robert Farmer of Michigan, Carl Farmer of Arkansas and Daniel Farmer of Indiana; a sister, Fern Lukens of Indiana; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was a kind, loving man and will be greatly missed by family and friends. A private service will be conducted in Burleson. Services are entrusted to Memorial Services, 404 N.
