All rights reserved ============================================================================================ Saturday March 30, 2002 James Meredith "Jim" Lingle ODESSA - James Meredith "Jim" Lingle passed from this earth to heaven March 28, 2002. James Meredith Lingle was born June 27, 1921, in Texline to Ellen Lingle, who preceded him in death. He had a sister, Laverne Sewell, who also preceded him in death. On March 1, 1947, he married Velma Rose Scott in Clayton, N.M. They enjoyed a long happy life together until her death in 1996. "Jim" Lingle started work for Tom Brown Inc. in 1957 as a tool pusher. After being injured in a rig fire, he transferred to the Midland Yard in 1967 and worked there as a yard superintendent until his death. Extremely dedicated, he always wanted to be at work. In recent years, if kept away due to illness, he always spoke of coming right back to work. Everyone in the oilfield either heard of or knew Jim Lingle. He is survived by a sister, Juanita Saunders of Gladstone, N.M.; his children, Jesse Ray Lingle and wife Noma, Beverly Kay Saunders, Bruce Milton Lingle and his wife Shirley, Russell Meredith Lingle and wife Briana and Rebecca Lynn Lingle Harris and husband Chris, all of Odessa; eight grandchildren, Melisa Price, Cory Lingle, Jason Lingle, Taylor Saunders, Dylan Saunders, Bryce Harris, Dylanger Harris and Remington Harris; and a great-granddaughter, Leslie Kay Lingle. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2002, at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Burt Groves officiating. Pallbearers will be Fred Vestal, Emmitt Bell, Dan Daniels, Cory Ray Lingle, Jason Lingle and Brent Murrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Huckabay, Ricky Huckabay, Tom Brown, Travis Gore, Walter Smith, Tom Martin and David Thames. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
