Lansford ODESSA - Donna S. Lansford, 50, of Odessa went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday after a short illness. She was born May 20, 1951, in Odessa to Don and Fay Allison. She graduated from Odessa High School in 1969. She married Larry Douglas on Nov. 14, 1969. She later remarried Feb. 24, 1997. Donna enjoyed reading the Bible, quoting scriptures, ministering to people and worshipping the Lord. Her life revolved around serving God to the fullest. She touched lives more than anyone could imagine. She was a faithful child of God. Her love for God was only rivaled by her love for her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Doug Allison, and her grandparents. Survivors include her parents, Don and Fay Allison of Odessa; daughter, Seree Keese and husband Gary of Abilene; son, Gary Douglas and wife Jennifer of Odessa; five grandchildren, Dustin, Jacob, Joseph and Briana Keese and Halie Douglas; sisters, LaVona Baker and husband Donald of Odessa and Kitrena Bushong and husband Randy of Andrews; brother, Nils Allison and wife Sarah of Odessa; nieces and nephews, James Baker, Tanya Bedrick, Renee and Jason Bushong and Danielle and Matthew Allison; two great-nieces, Makayla and Cheyenne Baker; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive visitors from 7 to 9 p.m. today, April 3, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Hubbard- Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Hetherington and Oop Shrauner officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Nils Allison, Donald Baker, James Baker, Luke Bedrick, Bobby White, Jason Bushong and Matthew Allison. The family requests memorials to be made to the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center. Mom, we want to thank you for giving us the greatest gift of all, introducing us to Jesus Christ. You have always gone above and beyond your motherly desires to protect us and raise us in a Christian home. We are not telling you goodbye, we are telling you "see you later." Betty Jo Nicholas ODESSA - Betty Jo Nicholas, 74, of Odessa passed away Monday, April 1, 2002, in Odessa. She had lived in Odessa for 55 years. Betty Jo was born in Coleman and grew up in Eastland where she was a 1945 graduate of Eastland High School. She married Lester Nicholas on Aug. 1, 1946, in Eastland. She was a wonderful homemaker and an excellent mother. She was involved in Girl Scouts, band boosters, Sunday school teaching, club sponsoring and in helping to raise the children of many friends. She was a great fan of the Dallas Cowboys and an avid supporter of Mojo. She was a member of Highland United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Clara Young; two brothers, Jim and Charles Young; and two sisters, Mary Perry and Beatrice Moylan. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lester Nicholas, and four daughters, Sherry Westbrook and husband Mike of Plano, Sandy Goode and husband Alan of Eastland, Leslie Nicholas of Austin and Lana Nicholas and husband Robbi of Odessa. She had four grandchildren, Michael and Nicholas Westbrook and Grady and Levi Goode. Betty is also survived by a sister, Pat Miller of Lindale, and many nieces, nephews and other family members. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 3, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jack Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Earl Elbert Covington Sr. MONAHANS - Mr. Earl Elbert Covington Sr. (Teddy) was born to the late Louis King Covington and Mattie Mae Covington on April 11, 1918, in Brady. He passed this life March 30, 2002. He married Sewellow Alexander on Nov. 7, 1940. To the union of this marriage, 13 children were born. Earl was one of the first black men to be drafted in the United States Marine Corps. He served his country from April 4, 1944, to Dec. 7, 1945. He received an honorable discharge as private first class. Afterward, he moved to Monahans and became a truck driver and furniture mover for Jim L. Jordan for 25 years. His wife, Sewellow, and daughters, Louise Breedlove and Linda Thomas preceded Earl in death. Teddy leaves to mourn his children, Earl and Susie Covington of Quail Valley, Calif., Robert and Catherine Covington of Lubbock, Ruby Ramsey of Midland, Elbert and Evergreen Covington of Columbus, Ga., Louis Covington of Atlanta, Ga., Kathy Smalls of Houston, Earl Dean and W.T. Garrett of Lubbock, Rose Mary Covington, Betty Hayes, Richard and Barbara Covington and Melvin Covington, all of Monahans. Other survivors include two brothers, Rev. James Covington of Hamlin and Roosevelt Covington of Monahans; 38 grandchildren; 48 great- grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Faith Temple Church with burial at Monahans Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Harkey Funeral Home.
