She was born Nov. 19, 1896, in Beaumont to Martha Bartle Monday and William Monday. She married Elmer E. Brasfield. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her grandchildren, Mary Kirklin and husband Dan of Georgetown, Mike Holt and wife Cheryl of La Grange, Syb Henson and husband Lou of Sunrise Beach and Otis Brasfield Jr. and wife Judy of Odessa; six great- grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Private interment was held held in Beaumont. Arrangements by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Homes Inc. Mildred 'Pete' Freitag Dudley MERTZON - Mildred "Pete" Freitag Dudley, 81, of Mertzon, Texas, died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at her residence. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 24th, at First United Methodist Church in Mertzon with Rev. Phillip Steinbach and Rev. Grosse Mohler officiating. Burial will follow in Mertzon Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo. Mildred was born November 4, 1920, in San Angelo, Texas, to Bill and Nannie Lee Freitag and was a resident of Mertzon for 66 years. Mildred was married to Preston Dudley on April 3, 1940, in San Angelo, Tx. Survivors include husband, Preston of Mertzon; two daughters, Vicki McKissack and husband Howard of Fort Stockton, and Linda Stemm of Mertzon; six grandchildren, Vickie Simpson and husband Michael of Mertzon, Ronnie Stemm of Mertzon, Debbie Low of Lake Charles, La., Dudley McKissack of Fort Stockton, Mickey and wife Tracie McKissack of Artesia, New Mexico, and Kaci and husband Ken Plunk of Huntsville; seven great-grandchildren, Chris Frazier of Lubbock, Shannon Frazier of Mertzon, Maegan and Mitchell McKissack of Abilene, Sydney Low of Lake Charles, La., Matthew McKissack of Artesia, New Mexico, and Robert Childress of Huntsville, Tx.; two brothers, Jimmy Freitag of Missouri and Bill Freitag, Jr. and wife Mabel of Eldorado, and one sister, Babe Griffin of Odessa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins of both sides of the family and she loved the Dudley nephews and nieces as she did her own. She is also survived by s special nephew, Dr. Loren Scott of Baton Rouge, La. and numerous friends. The family request memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Mertzon, the Irion County Ex-Students Association or your favorite charity. Pat Proctor James TYLER - Pat Proctor James, beloved wife of Bill James, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2002, at Abilene Regional Medical Center in Abilene. She was a loving wife and mother and dedicated her life to her family. She will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. She was born Mattie Clyde Sandlin to parents Edgar and Elizabeth Sandlin on May 16, 1927, in Mosely and was preceded in death by her husband, James Proctor Sr., her parents and three of her siblings. She is survived by loving husband, Bill James of Colorado City; daughters, Jan Jones and husband Larry of Brownsboro, Debbie Cox and husband Logan of Odessa and Pam Davidson and husband Don of Tyler; son, James Proctor and wife Amy of Tyler; brother, Ross Sandlin of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Lori Taylor and Justin Jones of Tyler, Steven and Kristi Davidson of Tyler and Jessica and Jordan Proctor of Tyler; and great-grandchildren, Bethany Carrell of Odessa and Taylor Farmer and Mackenzie Taylor of Tyler. Pallbearers will be Justin Jones, Jeremy Cox, Steven Davidson, Dick Sandlin, Jack Sandlin and Rick Sandlin. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Jones, Dr. Logan Cox and Don Davidson. Larry Pon ODESSA - Larry Pon Sr., 48, of Odessa passed away Sunday, April 21, 2002, at his residence. He was born May 21, 1953, to Bill and Margaret Pon in Fort Worth, Texas. He moved to Odessa in 1989 from Decatur. He was an employee of Key Energy Services for the past 2 years. He enjoyed hunting, working on the computer and trucks. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed. Both parents preceded him in death. He is survived by a son, Larry Pon Jr. and wife Emilia of Fieldton; three daughters, Misty Garza and husband Herman of Odessa, Krystle Pon of Odessa and Michelle Alvarez of Dallas; two brothers Floyd Houtz and wife Brenda and Bill H. Pon Jr. and wife Cathy; two sisters, Kitty Taylor and husband Jimmy of Perrin and Verna Jones and husband Keith of Decatur; nine grandchildren; his ex-wife, Elizabeth F. Pon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Maxey officiating. She moved to Odessa in 1953. She was a member of OES, Lady Shriners, Eagles Lodge and ABWA. She was a secretary, homemaker and wonderful cook. She was a member of Terrace Hills Baptist Church. "Tubby" Vaughan, age 88, of Odessa died April 22, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Nov. 24, 1913, in Katy, OK, to George and Mittie Vaughan. Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Vaughan moved to Odessa in 1923, he served in the U.S. Navy in WWII as a Seaman First Class. He married Latane Parsons in 1935. She preceded him in death in 1997. He had worked for E.L. Farmer Trucking for more than 50 years. He was a member of University Church of Christ and a lifetime member of the VFW. He is survived by his daughter, Rosa Lee Vaughan of Odessa; grandchildren, Lisa Stanhope of Orrtanna, PA, Bryan Vaughan of Odessa and Julie McKenzie of Odessa; 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, A.D. Katie Somerford ODESSA - Katie Somerford, 92, of Odessa passed away Sunday, April 21, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Menard. She married Sherman Somerford on Oct. 16, 1937, in Menard. He preceded her in death Nov. 6, 1992. Katie had lived in Odessa since 1950. She worked as a sales clerk for Pants Palace for 14 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and St. John's Episcopal Church. She is survived by two sisters, Dortha Williamson of Junction and Elizabeth Flowers of San Angelo and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at Hubbard- Kelly Funeral Home Chapel.
