Dawson, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed from this life to be with God on Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at the Hospice House in Odessa. Born June 11, 1921, in Bells, Texas, he married Virginia Harper on Dec. 13, 1945. They had one daughter, Debbie, and one son, Dru, who will always thank him for the guidance he provided in their lives. Julian was a resident of Kermit for 50 years, providing the community with love, leadership and support. Julian's first love was that of an educator. After teaching for 10 years in the Kermit school system, he was high school principal for 20 years. Subsequently, he served as a Winkler County commissioner for eight years. He served his community and his God in many capacities. He was president of the Community Advisory Council for the West Texas State School and served on the Volunteer Council for over 20 years. Julian was an involved member of the Rotary Club and the Kermit Chamber of Commerce. He founded the Tumbleweed Chefs and was "the chief cook and bottle washer." His God and church were at the center of his life, being a member of First United Methodist Church and serving on the administrative board. Senior citizens' rights were also a priority to him, serving as a Silver-Haired Legislator in past years and president of the local AARP chapter. Julian is survived by his wife, Virginia; his daughter, Debbie and her husband Larry of Odessa; his son, Dru of Odessa; two granddaughters, Jamie of Salinas, Calif., and Alisha of Odessa; many nieces and nephews; and his many loving friends in Winkler County. The family would appreciate memorial donations being made to the West Texas State School in Pyote or to Hospice House on Sam Houston Avenue in Odessa. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at First United Methodist Church in Kermit with the Rev. Beth Harrington officiating. Burial will be at the Kermit Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Chapel. Kenneth Reynolds MIDLAND - Beloved husband, father, brother and caring friend, Kenneth Dean Reynolds was called home to heaven Tuesday, May 7, 2002. Visitation will be held between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. today, May 9, 2002, at Ellis Funeral Home. Memorial services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Fairmont Park Church of Christ, 3813 North Midland Drive, in Midland. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Ken was born Sept. 23, 1927, in Caddo to Charles and Berlina Reynolds. He graduated from McCamey High School and attended Kilgore Junior College. Ken met and married his wife of 51 years, Maxine, in Longview. After working in Dallas for General Electric in the aviation industry, Ken and Maxine moved to Odessa where he worked for Loffland Brothers Drilling and Baroid Mud Co. They subsequently settled in Hobbs, N.M., and he was employed as a drilling superintendent for Shell Oil Co. In the mid 1950s, Ken and his family moved to Artesia, N.M., where he was a drilling superintendent for Yates Drilling Co. He formed WEK Drilling Co. in 1962, which he owned and operated for the next 39 years. Ken also founded Western Oil Producers in the mid-1960s and Manzano Oil Co. in the late 1980s. Throughout his working career, Ken's business interest included banking, real estate, ranching, restaurants and various oil and gas service companies. Ken was very involved in community and business activities in New Mexico and served on numerous committees and boards including the Chaves County Fair Board, Eastern New Mexico Oil Training Center, International Association of Drilling Contractors, American Petroleum Institute, New Mexico Oil and Gas Association and as a director for several banks. Ken had an all-encompassing zest for life that included a love for oil and gas exploration, all aspects of the drilling industry, fishing with friends in Mexico, raising longhorn cattle, hunting and anything the color red. He especially cherished spending time at home with family and friends. Ken was devoted to church and lived his life according to the Christian values and beliefs he held so dear. He will be remembered for living and loving life with compassion, enthusiasm and generosity. He leaves an extended and loving family including wife, Maxine; his daughter, Tanza Brumfield and husband Ronny of Midland; son, Jay of Midland; brother, Herman Reynolds of Oklahoma City; sisters, Dorothy King of Dallas and Winona Hodges and her husband Stacy of McCamey; sisters-in-law, Edith Reynolds of Midland and Rose Reynolds of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of one's choice or to High Sky Children's Ranch Endowment Fund. Harry E. Wood ODESSA - Harry E. Wood, 74, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born April 11, 1928, in Post. He married Anita Bennett on Nov. 22, 1967, in Big Spring. He worked for Union Wire Rope, a division of Armco Steel, for 21 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 19, 1946, to Nov. 23, 1947. He was a member of the American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife, Anita Wood of Odessa; daughters, Kathy Coleman of The Colony and Nancy Hall of Tom Bean; brothers, W.L. Wood of Satellite Beach, Fla., and Bobby Dean Wood of Lubbock; and four grandchildren. The family will meet with friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Scofield officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park in Big Spring under the direction of Hubbard- Kelly Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Christian Church. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Harold Eugene Baldwin ODESSA - Harold Eugene Baldwin, 65, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at his residence. He was born Jan. 4, 1937, in Seymour and moved to Odessa in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army in Fort Bragg, N.C. He had been an Assistant Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. Harold retired from AT&T in 1987 after 30 years of service. He had served as president of the Permian High School band boosters. He was owner of "you gotta be NUTS," where he was known as "The Peanut Man." He helped organize and manage Nita's Stained Glass. He had various part-time jobs, most recently a screener for Global Aviation Services Corp. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and travel. He participated in arts and crafts fairs. He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Baldwin. He is survived by his wife, Nita Baldwin of Odessa; son, Bill Baldwin and wife Janet of Garland; daughter, Shari Gifford and husband SSG Tony Gifford of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; mother, Mary Ruth Baldwin of Seymour; sister, Wanda Welch of Ennis; brother, Joe Baldwin of Seymour; and six grandchildren, Brett and Alicia Baldwin, Jamie and Eric Pusateri and Tyler and Amber Gifford. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
