All rights reserved ================================================================================ ============ Saturday May 11, 2002 Obituaries Gary Keith Rheingans ODESSA - Gary Keith Rheingans, 48, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital after a short illness. He was born Aug. 14, 1953, in Odessa. He spent most of his life in Odessa. He attended Hood Junior High and graduated from Permian High School in 1971, receiving numerous academic achievement awards at both schools, including membership in the National Junior Honor Society and the National Honor Society. He also played for the championship Panther football team. He attended Odessa College and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. For the last six years, he was an employee of GE Industrial Packaging and Power. He loved to go to work each morning and took great pride in a job well done. Gary liked to garden and putter around in his yard. He loved to start each day watching and keeping up with the latest financial news. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today, May 11, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Gary was preceded in death by his father and mother, Leo and Lee Rheingans. He is survived by his partner, Alice Woods; a brother, Tom Rheingans and his wife Gracie; a daughter, Sabrina Cook and her husband Kenneth; and two grandchildren, Christian and Christina Cook. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Carson Beatrice Hill ODESSA - Carson Beatrice Hill, 82, of Odessa passed away Thursday, May 9, 2002, at her residence in Odessa. She was born March 8, 1920, to Church and Annie Lee Blackwell in Centerville, Tenn. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Carson came to Odessa in 1946 from Centerville, Tenn. She married William Hill on Dec. 21, 1946, in Franklin, Ky. She loved cooking, gardening, crocheting and reading. She enjoyed attending her Sunday school class, the Ruth class at Central Baptist Church. Her parents, and a brother, Hayes Blackwell, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, William D. Hill of Odessa; son, Dennis Hill of Corpus Christi; daughters, Cynthia Hughes of Las Cruces, N.M., Juanita Hill and Sally Rowell, both of Odessa; brothers, Dr. James Blackwell of Centerville, Tenn., and Carleton Blackwell of Waco; sister, Lula Mae Prince of Centerville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Dennis Hill Jr., Michael D. Hughes, Robert A. Hughes, Sherrie Lynn Hughes-Brumley and Vicki Renee Hughes; and great-grandchildren, Tyler Austin Brumley and Zachary Scott Brumley. The family requests memorials to Alzheimer's Association and Home Hospice. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Larry W. Edwards ODESSA - Larry W. Edwards, 57, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at his residence. He was born May 9, 1944, in Frederick, Okla. He moved to Odessa in 1964 from Artesia, N.M. He married Eugenia Lines on April 19, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nev. Larry was a 1962 graduate of Artesia High School. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He was a member of the Ector County deputy sheriff's reserves and beloved "CowPa" to all the grandchildren. He was a Baptist. He is survived by his wife, Eugenia Edwards of Odessa; son, Larry D. Edwards of Odessa; daughter, Lonna S. Edwards Poole and husband Johnny of Monahans; parents, Lonnie and Bessie Edwards of Cushing, Okla.; brothers, Glenn D. Edwards of El Paso, Jerry Edwards of Tulsa, Okla., and Randy Edwards of Cushing, Okla.; sister, Sandra Johnson of Weatherford, Okla.; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, May 11, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with the Rev. Carl Anderson officiating.
