All rights reserved ================================================================================ ============ Monday May 20, 2002 Obituaries Billy Jack Shrum ODESSA - Billy Jack Shrum, 72, went home to be with his Savior on Friday, May 17, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born May 27, 1929, to John Edgar and Molly Louise Shrum in Snyder, TX. Billy was self-employed as a mechanic for 50 years, retiring in 1996. In 1997, he moved to Odessa from Waco. He was loved by all and was known as "Billy Jack" or "Pops." There is a family visitation scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., today, May 20, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Dewey Bevins of Zion Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Billy's mother and father, wife, Sarah Hall, and beloved son, Billy E. Shrum, all preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, John Shrum of Odessa; daughter, Dollie Riggs Boddie of Odessa; brother, John Shrum of San Bernardino, CA; three sisters, Ida B. Throneberry, Mary Dempsey, and Byrdie Nesbit, all of Waco; three grandchildren, Angela Jones, Shawn and Brian Shrum; five great-grandchildren, Amanda and Briana Lawhone, Cassandra and Sarah Shrum, and Dawson Hogan; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made in Billy's memory to the Little People of America. Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Ralph Woods ODESSA - Ralph Woods, 74, of Odessa died Friday, May 17, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sherwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Hiser officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home. Mr. Woods was born July 10, 1927, in Beckville. He moved to Odessa in 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was owner of Falcon Environmental Systems, Inc. His business was his love and his hobby. He enjoyed fishing and raising horses. He loved his family. Ralph was a Christian man who fell in love with the Lord and his church after he was saved July 9, 1995. He was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers and his beloved mamma Cox. He is survived by his wife, Linda Woods; son, Johnny Harris and wife Heather of Odessa; daughters, Rebecca Allen and husband Bud of Odessa, Susie Ellis and husband Derek of Victoria, Lisa Ogle and husband Mike of Helotes; brother, James Roy Woods of Carthage; and four grandchildren, Jeremy Harris, Whitney Ellis, Brittany Vaughan and Caden Vaughan.
