All rights reserved ============================================================================================ Saturday May 25, 2002 Obituaries Neva Ruth Nordyke ODESSA - Neva Ruth Nordyke, 85, of Odessa passed away Thursday, May 23, 2002. She was born Jan. 21, 1917, to W.F. and Nancy Cook in Copland, Ark. Services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Currie Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Neva married Charles E. Nordyke on Aug. 15, 1938, in Roswell, N.M. They lived in Lubbock until 1946. She attended beauty school in Lubbock in 1937. She enjoyed playing dominoes at the senior citizen center, and she liked meeting new people. No one was ever a stranger to her. She was quite an artist; painting was one of her hobbies. Her mother and father, husband, two nieces and three nephews preceded her in death. She is survived by her nephews, Frank Horine of Cleveland, Okla., Jim Cook of Cuero and Bobby Denny of Prague, Okla.; nieces, Norma Houston and Freda Dimple, both of Shawnee, Okla., Reba Nichols of Prague, Okla., June Rice Tulsa, Okla., Sharon Poston of Cave Creek, Ariz., Betty Underwood of Seminole, Okla., Nancy Crouse of Abernathy, Carol Currie of Seagraves, Millie Whitaker of Phoenix, Ariz., and Linda Ridge of Albuquerque, N.M.; sister, Pearl Denny of Prague, Okla.; and sister-in-law, Hortense Tanner of Roswell, N.M. The family requests memorials to Home Hospice at 516 N. Texas Ave., Odessa, Texas, 79761. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Edwin Dean Wardlow ODESSA - Edwin Dean Wardlow, 47, of Odessa died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Oct. 25, 1954, in Grand Saline. He moved to Odessa in 1972 from Paris, Texas, and was a sales representative for Metron Technology. He married Laura Marshall on May 29, 1976, in Odessa. He was a member of First Christian Church and loved being a member of the church music ministry. He was very athletic, loved to play golf, fish and softball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Kathleen Wardlow, and brother, Gary Wardlow. Survivors include his wife, Laura; sons, Clayton and Lee Wardlow, all of Odessa; sisters, Bobbie Brown of Atlanta, Texas, and Elizabeth Cornett of Goodrich; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today, May 25, 2002, at First Christian Church with the Revs. Dr. David Mindel and Donnie Williams officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Dennis Russell ODESSA - Dennis went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at the age of 41. He came into this world June 20, 1960, in Englewood, Calif. His parents are Beulah (Vi) Mae Mixon and Richard Franklin Russell. He married Juanita Russell April 27, 1982. They celebrated their 20th anniversary this year. To that union there were three daughters born, Tasha, Samantha "Sammi" and Shelby, all of Odessa. In all his years, he never met a stranger. He entertained many with his love, kindness and friendship. In his passing he left behind five brothers, Ricky of California, Glen of Louisiana, Ronald Jo of Arizona, Todd of Texas and Shaun of Arkansas. He spent most of his life pulling mobile homes. He spent some time in the Marines. All his time was devoted to being a daddy, a husband and a great friend to many. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Faith Tabernacle Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow at the Ector County Cemetery, Rose Hill section.
