All rights reserved =========================================================================== Thursday June 06, 2002 Robert Lucuis Harris ODESSA - Robert Lucuis Harris, 77, of Odessa died Saturday, June 1, 2002, in Odessa. He was born March 13, 1925, in Hillsboro to Richard Harris and Ann McCreary. He retired as a machine operator from Baker Hughes after 35 years. He enlisted in the Navy Jan. 4, 1943, and served during World War II and through Jan. 8, 1946. He married Margaret Cecil Harris McCree. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two sons, Robert Stephen Harris of Arlington and Tracey Ray Harris of Odessa; a brother, Louis Hall of Fort Worth; three sisters, Sonja Sewell, Mary Gamble and Jessie Harris, all of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Martinez Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. J.W. Velma Hodges ODESSA - Velma Hodges, 93, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Avalon Place Nursing Home. She was born June 5, 1909, in San Augustine. She married Johnnie B. Hodges on Sept. 29, 1932. He preceded her in death May 26, 1988. Mrs. Hodges moved to Odessa in 1977. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She is survived by her son, Kenneth Hodges of Odessa; sisters, Era Jones of Odessa and Anne Knutsen of San Francisco; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Hobbs, Sharon Pace and Brian Hodges, all of Odessa; six great-grandchildren, Tony Renee Hodges, Lisa Meyer, Charles Alexander Meyer, James Paul Pace, Lane Dial and Justice Hodges, all of Odessa; and a great-great-grandchild, Adan Elijah Gonzales. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Rick Alkire officiating under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Murray P. McDonald ODESSA - Murray P. McDonald, 74, of Coushatta passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at LSU Medical Center Hospital in Shreveport, La. He was born April 9, 1928, to Murray Sr. and Eva Mae McDonald in Sweetwater. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He moved to Odessa in 1951 from Sweetwater. He moved to Coushatta in 1996 and married Roberta Campbell that same year. He enjoyed painting. He was Baptist. His mother and father; first wife, Dessie; and brothers, Bobby Joe and Kenneth McDonald preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Roberta McDonald of Coushatta; son, Stephen McDonald of Odessa; sister, Justine Manning of Fort Worth; two nieces, Robbie Jean Kaiser and Eva Mae McDonald; and two nephews, Bobby Joe McDonald and Kenneth Ray McDonald. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Kitchen officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Lillian Clawson Sullivan WESTBROOK - Mrs. Lillian Clawson Sullivan, 77, of Odessa, formerly of Westbrook, died Monday at her residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, June 6, 2002, at First Baptist Church in Westbrook with the Rev. Bob Manning officiating. Burial will follow at the Westbrook Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home. Mrs. Sullivan was born April 16, 1925, to P.E. and Ethel Clawson in Mitchell County. She married Herman Edward Sullivan after World War II. He preceded her in death in 1980. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Westbrook and the Golden Age Club. She was a longtime resident of Mitchell County, the last three years residing in Odessa. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, C.E. "Era" Clawson. She is survived by four children, David L. and wife Linda Sullivan, Lynda and husband Tommy Bryant and Vicki and husband Bobby Reed, all of Odessa, and Kim and husband T.R. Rhyne of Bowie; 10 grandchildren, David and wife Stephanie Sullivan of Clyde, Debra and husband Eric Pryde of Cincinnati, Jennifer and husband Eddy Bizzell of Odessa, Terry Bryant of Pilot Point, Marca and husband Colby Washburn of Odessa, Wendy and husband Philliph Whirley of Odessa, Bryan and wife Erica Reed of Odessa, Casey and wife Rose Reed of Odessa, Adam Rhyne of Bowie and Chris Rhyne of Bowie; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, J.C. and wife Frances Clawson of Conway, Ark., and Dewayne and wife Dee Clawson of Coahoma; and four sisters, Louise Miller of Oklahoma City, Drucilla Board of Westbrook, Syble Sparks of Terrell and La Rue Finderson of Corpus Christi. Charles Washington Jr. ODESSA - Charles Washington Jr., 46, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, in Childress. Mr. Washington Jr. was a lifelong resident of Odessa. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Washington Sr. He is survived by his mother, Dixie Hemphill Washington; three sons, Lamont Ross of Georgia, Cornelius Washington of Odessa and Dacian Washington of Odessa; three sisters, Claudette Jones and husband Eddie of Odessa, Cherly Jordan of Houston and Paula Wilson of Odessa; and a grandchild. He was born Feb. 14, 1956, in Odessa, the son of Charles and Dixie Hemphill Washington Sr. Viewing and visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel. Terry Yarbrough ODESSA - Terry Yarbrough, 39, of Odessa passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at his residence. He was born Aug. 8, 1962, in Muncie, Ind. Terry graduated from Connersville High School in 1981. He moved to Odessa in 1981 and married Kendra Mulliniks on Feb. 14, 1986. He opened his own business, TKN Services, in 1987. He was co-founder and president of the West Texas Water Corp. Terry was a wonderful loving, supportive husband and father. He loved both his daughters, and they brought joy to his life. He was always willing to help anyone out in their time of need. He was an extraordinary man. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Kendra Yarbrough of Odessa; daughters, Nicole and Kyla Yarbrough of Odessa; parents, Bob and Nona Yarbrough of Indiana; sisters, Dawn Sheveland of Kentucky, Jane Mayo of Florida and Simone Schoettmer of Indiana; brothers, Nicky Yarbrough of Colorado and Rick Taylor of Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
