All rights reserved =========================================================================== Sunday June 16, 2002 Morris Haskell Brunette BROWNSVILLE - Morris Haskell Brunette, 67, passed away Friday, June 14, 2002, in Brownsville. He was born Nov. 25, 1934, to James Morris and Nadine Golden Brunette in Cass County, Texas. Morris was a resident of Odessa from 1949 until about 10 years ago, when he moved to Brownsville. He enjoyed playing both the guitar and harmonica and singing. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Robert Lamb of Odessa Foursquare Gospel Church officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. His father, James Brunette; two sisters, Judy Beauchamp and Ernestine Burt; three nephews, Dony McDonald, Shane Brunette and Steven McDonald; and one great- nephew, Tommy Joe Scott, all preceded him in death. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Nadine and Max Sykes; brothers, David Brunette and wife Shirley; Charles Brunette and wife Nancy, all of Odessa; Ricky Don Brunette and wife Debbie of Broken Bow, Okla.; sisters, Glennell McDonald of Odessa and Stella Brunette of Amarillo. He is also survived by 10 nephews, Roger McDonald Jr., David C. Brunette, Jimmy Allen Jr., Kenneth Brunette, Christopher Burt, Richard Maddaision, Brandon Maddaision, Deric Brunette, Chris Brunette and Cody Brunette; six nieces, Bobbie Kay Scott, Dawne D'Shaye Lamb, Staci Brunette, Shyree Nicole Brightman, Dana Glennell Hambright and Samantha Danielle Stark; and numerous other relatives. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Juanita "Nita" Moody FORT STOCKTON - Services for Juanita "Nita" Moody will be at the First Baptist Church in Fort Stockton today, at 3 p.m. She passed away at the age of 77 June 14, 2002, in San Angelo after an extended illness. Nita was born to Luther D. and Winnie A. Barbee on June 2, 1925, in Gunter. Nita was employed by Grayson County State Bank after graduating from Gunter High School and was married to Billy L. Moody on Sept. 25, 1945. They returned to Billy's home town of Fort Stockton where they built a home on the 7-D Road and have lived until this date. Surviving Nita, or "Honey" as she was fondly called by her family, are her husband, Billy; a daughter, Marilyn Hale and husband Tom of Van Horn; son, Charles Moody and wife Jill of San Antonio. "Honey" had eight grandchildren, Amy Auker and husband Nick of Clarendon, Molly Hines and husband Ronnie of San Angelo, Will Hale and wife Shelley of Hamilton, Walt Hale of Van Horn, Sally Moody of New York City, J.J. Moody of Austin, Rebecca Moody of Bryan and Amy Gillespie of San Antonio. There are seven great-grandchildren, Oscar and Lily Auker, Jessica and Wayne Hines, Abbey and Lainey Hale and KayLeigh Moody. Nita is survived by two sisters and a brother, Winnie Rachel Mayes, Jodie McGuire and G.C. Barbee. There are also a number of nieces and nephews. Nita was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fort Stockton working in the fourth- and fifth- grade Sunday School Department for 25 years. She was employed by the Pecos County State Bank for 23 years, was a faithful blood donor, supported the Fort Stockton Water Carnival, and worked for the hospital auxiliary at Pecos County Memorial Hospital. "Honey" will be missed by friends in Fort Stockton and by many far and wide having been a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Groups honored at the services will be employees of Pecos County State Bank, Ladies' Auxiliary from the Pecos County Memorial Hospital, the Fort Stockton Lion's Club members, members of the First Baptist Church of Fort Stockton and American Legion Post 234. Viewing will be at 1:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Fort Stockton. Sandi E. (Halbert) Yerby EL PASO - Graveside services for Sandi E. (Halbert) Yerby, 59, of El Paso are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Restlawn Memorial Park in El Paso under the direction of Kaster-Maxon and Futrell Funeral Home. Family visitations were held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kaster-Maxon and Futrell Funeral Home in El Paso. Mrs. Yerby died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, in El Paso after a lengthy battle with lupus. She had lived most of her life in El Paso. She was director of the Lupus Foundation for 23 years and was involved with several schools in the El Paso District with the drill and flag teams. She was also a baton teacher for many years and had worked with the El Paso Shriners Drum and Drill Corp. for several years preparing the team for competition in which they won top honors. Survivors include her sons, Mike Yerby of Denver and Jeff Yerby of El Paso; daughter, Kelli Blanco of El Paso; sister, Pamela Gatlin of Odessa; parents, Olen and Lucille Halbert of Odessa; and three grandchildren, all of El Paso. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. She will be deeply missed. Mae Dell Johnston ODESSA - Mae Dell Johnston passed away at Hospice House on Friday, June 14, 2002. She was born Aug. 6, 1919, in Big Spring to Robert and Ana Wilson. She lived there until 1965, then moved to Odessa. She married Sidney Johnston on April 13, 1971. She was a homemaker and an artist. She became a Life Master at duplicate bridge at the age of 80, making a wonderful network of caring bridge friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one grandson. She is survived by her husband Sid Johnston; daughter, Brenda Leonard and husband Bobby; sons, Larry Patton and wife Phyllis, Terry Johnston and wife Terri, Richard Johnston and wife Jana; brother, Lawrence Wilson and wife Jean of San Angelo; sisters, Margaret Hughes of Oceanside, Calif. and Elsie Claywood of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family wants to thank all the friends that have called or come by during this all too short journey. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
