'Frenchie' Gaspard ODESSA - R.J. "Frenchie" Gaspard, 77, passed away Friday, July 19, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Delcambre, La. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2002, at Memorial Services, 404 N. Washington Ave., with the Rev. Dewey Blevins officiating. He lived and died by a Cajun man's ways, but took good old West Texas with him to his grave. As an old roughneck, usually the boss of the crew, he left a lasting impression on everyone he knew. Before his departure from this grand old world, he left this behind for us to ponder once more. We live this life full of both joy and pain, but looking at our family and friends we know what we have gained. He was preceded in death by parents, Justillien Gaspard and Paulina Bourque, and son, Roy Dean Gaspard. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Bullard Gaspard; children, Elizabeth G. Sickle La Salle and husband Gerald of New Iberia, La., Raymond S. Gaspard and wife Joyce of Bossier City, La., Victoria Marie Morgan and husband Vance of Odessa and Michelle Antionnette Clemmer and husband Paul of Odessa; grandchildren, Adrienne S. Mulvaney Young, Alison S. Clark, Charles S. Sickle, Stacey A. Sickle, Christopher J. Sickle, Michelle Rene Saragosa, Christopher Ray Gaspard, Nicholas Lee Gaspard, Daniel Morgan, Stephanie Morgan and Michael Paul Clemmer; and 17 great-grandchildren. Elaine B. Monroe ODESSA - Elaine B. Monroe, 78, of Odessa passed away Saturday, July 20, 2002, at the Hospice House in Odessa. She was born to Hewell and Maude Waggoner Nov. 24, 1923, in Fort Worth. She later married Bill B. Monroe in September 1942 in San Antonio. She retired from the U.S. Post Office as a clerk. She was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. Her daughter, Sandra Ann Wilson, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Bill B. Monroe of Odessa; a daughter, Donna Schillinger and husband Bob of San Angelo; two brothers, Weldon Waggoner and wife Adelle and Dan Waggoner and wife Ruth Adelle, all of Comanche; three grandchildren, Scott Ward of San Angelo, Amy Johnston of San Antonio and Sherrie Stringer of Fort Davis; and nine great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. today, July 23, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tom Hiser officiating. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Maria Pequeno Vaca ODESSA - Maria Pequeno Vaca, 69, passed away Monday, July 22, 2002, at her residence. She was born Aug. 2, 1932, in Crystal City to Pablo and Paula Pequeno. She married Louis Vaca Sr. in Clovis, N.M. She was a Christian and a housewife. She was preceded in death by parents, Pablo and Paula C. Pequeno; brothers, Aurelio and David Pequeno; sister, Delores Rubio; and great-grandson, George Louis Baca. She is survived by her husband, Louis Vaca Sr. of Odessa; sons, Louis Vaca Jr. and wife Carla, David Vaca and Louis Baca III and wife Sylvia, all of Odessa; daughters, Janie Paredes and husband Willie and Terri Ramirez and husband Frank, all of Odessa; brother, Lupe Pequeno of Odessa; sisters, Margarita Casarez of Odessa, Noemi Nerios of Midland and Alice Torres of Denver, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Prayer services will be held at 7 p.m. today, July 23, 2002, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Odessa Tabernacle Church, 2406 Oakwood Drive, with the Rev. Tomas Flores officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
