All rights reserved =========================================================================== Friday August 09, 2002 Charles Francis Gill ODESSA - Charles Francis Gill, owner of Charlie’s Pawn Shop in Odessa, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002. Charlie, the oldest of four children was born May 1, 1947, to Charlie David Gill and Edna Beaver. He spent his childhood in Columbus, Ohio. In 1965 he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Dyess A.F.B. in Abilene. Upon his completion of his four years enlistment he remained in Texas and began his long career in the financial field. He married Robin Denise Brown of Waco on February 18, 1976, and they raised two daughters, Kimberly and Charlene. After 11 years with Cosmopolitan Investment Corp. of Amarillo, Charlie purchased Harvey’s Pawn Shop, then located at Second Street and Grant Avenue. In 1993 Charlie’s Pawn Shop moved to its present location on Andrews Highway. Charlie will be remembered by his many friends as a "people’s person" who loved life, laughter and never met a stranger. He dearly cherished his fellowship with each and every friend that he met along the way. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Robin Gill of Odessa; daughters, Kim George of Biloxi, MS; Charlene Gill of Austin; grandsons, Byron, Tyler and Alex; brothers, Larry Jenkins and wife Sherry, and Bobby Jenkins and wife Melinda; sister, Debbie McDonald, all of Columbus, OH; as well as numerous nieces and nephews The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Aug. 9, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. A "Remembrance" service will be held 10 am. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. The family will receive family and friends at their home after the service. Honorary pallbearers are: Gary Dolloff, Dick Stallcup, Robert Poindexter, Joe Davenport, Larry Bartlett, Terry Brown, John Avary and Nancy Hyde. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Prince Boykie Murphy IMPERIAL - Prince Boykie Murphy of Winchester, Texas, and formerly of Imperial, Texas, passed from this life on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002. He was born June 18, 1940, in Monahans, Texas. He was the son of Wince L. Murphy and Loma (Palmer) Murphy. He married Elva Cortez Clemmer on August 1, 1959, and spent most of his life working in the oil industry. Prince spent his childhood farming and ranching in West Texas where his parents raised cotton, cattle, goats and sheep. He began working in the oil industry as a teenager and continued in that field throughout is life. He moved to Giddings with Perry Gas in 1977 with the first oil boom of the area. At one time, he owned a roustabout company, B&E Enterprises. He worked for various other oil-related companies in the more recent years and settled in Winchester to be near his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Imperial Masonic Lodge and served on the Imperial School Board for numerous years. He was active as a member and leader of the Imperial FFA and greatly enjoyed hunting. One of his greatest life-long memories was of the hunting trip he took with his father and two sons in Canada. He was also a firearm enthusiast. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Patrick Boyd Murphy; and his father-in-law, Elvie Clemmer. Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Elva Murphy; children, Prince Boykie Murphy II and wife Sherry (Zoch) Murphy; Lynnette (Murphy) and husband Jeffery Trujillo; and daughter-in-law Sandy (Niesner) Murphy Zoch, all of Winchester; his grandchildren, in which he took great pride and pleasure; Billie Jo (B.J.) Murphy, Patrick Boyd Murphy II, Sean Murphy, Shane Murphy, Jared Trujillo, Patrisha Trujillo and Marissa Zoch, all of Winchester; mother-in-law, Chera Clemmer of Monahans; sister, Denise and her husband Phillip Reid of Midland; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd and Loyce Clemmer of Monahans, and Myrna and Bob Nelson of Arlington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. today at the Winchester United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be held in Imperial Cemetery, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002. Olive Watts QUINCY, ILL. - Olive Watts, 98, of Dunnellon, Fla., formerly of Quincy, Ill., died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at 5:45 p.m. at Woodland Terrace in Dunnellon. She was born October 3, 1903, in Burnside, Ky., the daughter of Charles Edgar and Pearl Sedam Ratcliffe. On May 5, 1928, she married Rossell Watts in Muncie, Ind. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1979. She lived most of her life in Indiana and Illinois with the last two years of her life in Dunnellon, Fla., with her daughter and son-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Watts owned and operated a retail bakery in Quincy for a great many years before retiring. Survivors include two sons, William Allen Watts and his wife Ordelle of Odessa; and Richard Albert Watts and his wife Mary of Bradenton, Fla.; daughter, Annabelle Dobbs and her husband Olin of Dunnellon; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Quincy Memorial Park with the Rev. Linda Hunsaker officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church and/or First Union Methodist Church, Dunnellon, Fla.
