Friesinger KINGSLAND - Betty J. Friesinger, 82, of Marble Falls passed away Aug. 10, 2002, at her home. Betty had been a resident of the Highland Lakes area for 20 years, coming from Odessa, Texas. She was born July 31, 1920, in Drumwright, Okla., to Herman and Myrum Rebecca (Slusser) Courington. On June 9, 1945, Betty married Peter H. Friesinger in Little Falls, Minn. Betty made a huge impact on many lives as a teacher. She taught school at an Oklahoma high school, as well as San Angelo High School, Odessa High School and was an instructor at Odessa College for many years, where she served as chairman of the business administration department. She was a member of the Texas State Teachers Association, past President of Delta Iota Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma from 1968 to 1970 and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Odessa. Betty received such honors as Woman of the Year, Delta Kappa Gamma in 1968, Business Teacher of the Year from 1971 to 1972 and was listed in Personalities of the South and the World Who’s Who of Women. Betty is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Major of Marble Falls, Texas; a sister, Geraldine Kirk of Little River, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet with the Rev. Tommie Beck officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Byron Major, Steven Major, Eric Alvarado, Mac Cook, Gary Cook and Kenny Osborn. Memorial contributions may be made to Seton-Highland Lakes Hospice. Arrangements by Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home in Kingsland, Texas. James H. ‘Jim’ Parmelly ODESSA - James H. "Jim" Parmelly, 87, of Odessa passed away after a lengthy illness, Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002. He was born Sept. 3, 1914, to Ford John and Dena Mae Duncan Parmelly in Sherman, Texas. Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Steve Trout officiating. Jim graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1937. He married Esther Liebscher on June 12, 1938, in Galveston, Texas. Jim came to Odessa in 1940 from Pampa, Texas. He worked as an electrical engineer for Exxon for 43 years before retiring in 1978. He was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church, member of the Couples Class, Exxon Annuitant and Registered Professional Engineer. He was an avid fisherman, loved to hunt and loved his Boston terriers. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and a caring friend and neighbor. His father and mother preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Esther Parmelly of Odessa; only son, Donald Parmelly and wife Eve of Odessa; one sister, Alice Davisson and husband Bob of Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Jack Parmelly and wife Sandy of Visalia, Calif. and Paul Dick Parmelly of Dallas, Texas; four grandsons, Brian Parmelly of Los Angeles, Calif., Jay Mitchell and wife Lisa of Fort Meade, Md., John Mitchell and wife Judy of Albuquerque, N.M., and Joseph Mitchell and wife Hollie of Hanau, Germany; four great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Charles Liebscher and wife Ingrid of San Diego, Calif. and Everett Liebscher of Odessa and one sister-in-law, Alvera Liebscher of La Grange, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions in honor of Jim be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, the First United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home of Odessa. The family will be receiving visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening, Aug. 14, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
