All rights reserved =========================================================================== Friday August 16, 2002 Alfred Joseph ‘Joe’ Carpenter PECOS - LCDR Alfred Joseph ‘Joe’ Carpenter, USNR, RET., 85, of El Paso, formerly of Pecos, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at White Acres Nursing Home in El Paso. He was born in El Paso, Texas on October 13, 1916. He graduated from El Paso High School and Texas College of Mines. He worked for Fabens Motor Company and McCormac Tractor and Implement Co. He retired from the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Murphy DD-603 during the Invasion of Normandy, including the bombardment of Cherbourg from June 6 through June 25 in 1944. He moved to Pecos in the early 1950s where he owned the Ginger Blue Ranch until the early 1970s. He also retired from Texas Employment Commission where he was manager from 1963 to 1978. In Pecos, he was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post, the American Legion, the Pecon Gun and Rifle Club, and Leroy’s Coffee Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ninya and Joseph Carpenter; his father-in-law, Jim McCormac; his wife of 56 years, Marion McCormac Carpenter; and his daughter, Linda Carpenter Faulkner. He is survived by his brother, Andrew H. Carpenter, of Indian Valley, Calif.; his daughter, Nancy Tyler and her husband Harry of El Paso; and grandchildren, Christopher and Natalee Tyler, of El Paso. His special companions were his huskies, Rio, Fresca, and Presley. Special thanks for the loving care provided by Dr. G.E. Martin and White Acres Nursing Home. Services were Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002 at Harding Orr McDaniel Funeral Home in Pecos, with interment following at Fr. Bliss National Cemetery with military honors. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at First Christian Church in Pecos. Jose 'Pepito' Manuel Hernandez ODESSA - Jose "Pepito" Manuel Hernandez, 21, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2002, in Odessa. Pepito was a born Oct. 29, 1980, in Odessa to the late Francisco Trujillo and Maria Elena Segovia Minjarez. He was married to Rosie Soto. He was a Christian and a laborer. He is survived by his wife, Rosie Soto of Pampa; daughter, Ashley Nicole Hernandez of Pampa; mother, Maria Elena Segovia Minjarez of Odessa; brother, Frank Minjarez Jr. and wife Maria of Odessa; sisters, Alma Salgado and husband Marion Jr., Maria De Jesus Minjarez, Carol Minjarez and husband Joe Patino, Maribel Ulate and husband Arturo, Nina Rodriguez and husband Frank, Sandra Lujan and husband Sabino, Gaby Segovia and husband Eddie, Adriana Vargas and husband John and Romina Montes, all of Odessa; grandmother, Francisca Hernandez of Ojinaga, Mexico. He is preceded in death by his father, Francisco Mirjarez Sr.; sister, Guadalupe Tovar; grandparents, Cipriano and Guillerma Minjarez; grandfather, Urbano Segovia; and nephew, Aron Ulate. Eidson-Jackson ODESSA - Bobba L. Eidson-Jackson went peacefully to be with her Lord on Aug. 13, 2002, at Hospice House with her loving family at her side. Services are scheduled for 11a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Mr. Charlie Jones, elder of Greenwood Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Bobba Lea Jackson was the eldest born to J.M. "Mitch" and Opal Mae Eidson on Aug. 27, 1930, in Ray City, a small community near Maude, Okla. Her family moved to Hobbs, N.M., in 1935, where she grew up and went all of her school years. Bobba married Wayne Jackson on June 4, 1949, in Hobbs. Of their marriage, they had four sons; Michael Wayne, Mitchell Lane, Monte Joe and Matthew Lee. The family moved to Odessa in September 1965. She worked for the Ector County tax assessor-collector for several years and later worked for Dr. J.D. Cone for a number of years. She made many close and cherished friends during her work years and had so many great memories of her co-workers. Bobba dedicated her life to Wayne, her sons, their wives and her grandchildren. She always placed everyone before herself during any time of need. Holidays, birthdays and grandkids’ events were so special to her. Her cooking and baking were loved by her family, especially her chicken and dumplings during the holiday season. Bobba fought and won health battles over the years and was strong to the end of her life. Her dedication and care for her family never ended and she will be missed so much and never forgotten. Pallbearers will be Joshua Wayne, Joseph Michell, Keaton Monte, Matthew Lee, Chris Jones and Dustin Jones. Bobba Jackson is survived by her husband, Wayne of their home; and four sons, Michael Wayne and wife Barbara Joy, Mitchell Lane and wife Valerie Ann, Monte Joe and Matthew Lee and wife Sarah Jeanette. Bobba is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; Joshua Wayne, Keisha Rachel, Raynie Brooke, Jordan Amber, Lacie Layne, Jenna Ashley, Joseph Mitchell, Keaton Monte, Matthew Lee, Zachary Hunter and Colton Wayne. Bobba has one sister, Norma Kenyon and husband Aubrey of Midland; and one brother Ronald Eidson and wife Shirley of Alto, N.M. She has many loving nephews and nieces who were very special to her life. Her family request memorials to Home Hospice, Hospice House and Medina Children’s Home. Services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Jesus Nevarez Ramirez ODESSA - Jesus Nevarez Ramirez passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. Mr. Ramirez was born in Feb. 25, 1914, in Presidio to Amado and Juana Ramirez. He married Elisa Navarete. He was a catholic and farm laborer. He is survived by his wife, Elisa Ramirez of Presidio, sons, Jose Angel Ramirez of Hobbs, N.M., Auden Ramirez and Jesus Javier Ramirez, both of Odessa; daughters, Olivia Leyva, Rosalinda Galindo and Maria Estela Ramirez, all of Presidio, Evangelina Baeza and Fabiola Lujan, both of Odessa; brothers, Raynaldo Ramirez and Florentino Ramirez, both of Odessa, Erineo Ramirez and Manuel Ramirez, both of Ojinaga, Mexico, and Cirilo Ramirez of Carlsbad, N.M., sisters, Tomasa Lujan and Adela Lujan, both of Ojinaga, and Marianna Carrasco of Odessa; 24 grandchildren and 26 great-great children. Services by Odessa Funeral Home. Minnie Ethel Cannon Curb ODESSA -- Minnie Ethel Cannon Curb passed from this life on Aug. 14, 2002. Her 93 years had been spent in the service of her family and friends. She was a member of the 6th and Jackson church of Christ. Married to Lois Chapman Curb for 67 years, he preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by one daughter, Minnie Lois Neal; a sister, Una Walker; her two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. today, Friday, Aug. 16, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Roy Smalling and Lynn Money officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Curb’s last years were spent living at the Lois Owen’s Assisted Living Home. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care given to "our MamMa."
