All rights reserved =========================================================================== Saturday September 21, 2002 Mary Joy Warner ODESSA - Mary Joy Warner, 70, a church pianist, passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at her home. She was born on Jan. 15, 1932, in Odessa, Texas, to parents, Mary Frances (Courter) Brunson and Joy Virgil Brunson. She grew up in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High School in 1949. At OHS, she was a member of the Drill Squad, Latin Club, Bible Club and the National Honor Society. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Piano from Midwestern University in 1954. There, she was a member of Musicians Club, Omega Rho Alpha and Alpha Chi. She has been a piano teacher and had played piano and organ for several local churches, most recently the Christian Science Church. She was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church and was a member the Odessa Music Study Club. During her lifetime, she took care of many children, which she always considered to be part of her own family. She became and remains their "honorary grandmother." Everyone who knew her was touched by her loving, generous spirit. She will be lovingly remembered as a mother and grandmother who always had time for her children’s and grandchildren’s various activities. She is survived by her son, Stuart Warner; and two daughters, Mary Massengill and Becky Hall, all of Odessa. She is also survived by three grandsons, Jeremy and Justin Dean, and Michael Atkins; and one granddaughter, Beth Atkins, all of Odessa. She is also survived by her two sisters, Doris Duncan of Gardendale and Lucille Bida of Arlington. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 415 N. Lee in Odessa at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, 2002. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to your favorite charity. Services entrusted by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. William Donald Grissom ODESSA - William Donald Grissom, infant son of Craig and Lisa Grissom, died Sept. 17, 2002. Will was born Sept. 16, 2002, at Odessa Regional Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jess Little officiating. Will is survived by his parents, Craig and Lisa Grissom of Odessa; paternal grandparents, Betty Grissom of Odessa and the late Donald Grissom; maternal grandparents, Rhonda and Bull Cupp of Mandeville, La., and Mitchell Arnold and Val Abbott of Odessa; and uncle Kevin Grissom and wife Hope of Odessa.
