All rights reserved =========================================================================== Sunday September 22, 2002 Marlin ‘Edge’ Edgington YANCEY - Marlin "Edge" Edgington, 62, a retired truck driver, met the Angels on Sept. 12, 2002, after battling cancer. He was born Aug. 1, 1940, in Manhattan, Kansas. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, having lost his right leg above the knee in 1961. The wonderful thing about Edge was that he never considered himself handicapped. Among his accomplishments, he drove over one million miles in his 1984 two-toned green Peterbilt with no loss of cargo or an accident. His handle was "DOUBLE EDGE." He also danced, swam, rode horses and drove his tractor on his ranch. He is survived by his wife, Pearlann "Pae" Edgington; brother, John Edgington of Champaign, Ill.; sisters, Sharon Diffenderfer of Anthony, N.M., and Vanessa Williams of Fenton, Mich.; his parents, Owen and Dorothy Edgington of Flat Rock, Ill.; and two sons, Leslie Robert Edgington of Leakey, Texas, and Sean Bingham of Olathe, Colo.; three daughters, Lynn Bingham of Camp Wood, Bonita Arriola of Falfurrias and Julie Domgard of Odessa; grandchildren, Shane Bingham, Daniel Bingham, Tanya Bingham, Jonathon Edgington, Dalene Edgington, Jenny Chavez, Valerie Chavez, Maria Arriola, Cristina Arriola, Dakota Bingham, Taylor Bingham and one great-grandson, Gentry Bingham. He will be missed by his constant companion "BONEY." A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. at the ranch in Yancey for friends and family, Sept. 28, 2002. Arrangements entrusted to Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels. Manuel Alfredo Herrera Sr. ODESSA - Manuel Alfredo Herrera Sr., 53, of Odessa, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, in Muleshoe, Texas. Mr. Herrera was born Jan. 12, 1949, in Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico. SURVIVORS: Wife, Maria Herrera of Odessa; stepmother, Ernestina Herrera of Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico; six daughters, Sally Morales and husband Tony, Nancy Pinon and husband Marin, Norma Chavez and husband Ramon, Bertha Gomez, Adriana Marie Herrera and Christina Daniella Herrera, all of Odessa; four sons, Jacinto Herrera and wife Christina, Manuel Herrera Jr. and wife Vicky, Alfredo Herrera and wife Hijinia and Marcus Herrera, all of Odessa; one brother, Tony Herrera of Oklahoma; seven sisters, Martha Herrera, Rita Olivas, Chayo Mendias, Lorerra Garcia and Judith Herrera, all of Odessa, Elsa Herrera of Ojinaga and Veronica Infante of Andrews; and fifteen grandchildren. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at Martinez Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Cerafin Avenido officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery. Services under the direction of Martinez Funeral Home. Shirley M. Sandefer ODESSA - Shirley M. Sandefer, 62, of Odessa, went to be with her Lord and savior in the early morning hours of Sept. 21, 2002. She was born to Walter and Elsie Flynn in Segiun, Texas, on March 2, 1940. She later married Paul Sandefer in Odessa on Sept. 16, 1991. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She is survived by her husband Paul; two sons, Jimmy West and wife Mary of Odessa and James Paul Sandefer and wife Becky of Luling, Texas; one brother, Sonny Flynn of Austin; two sisters, Jeannette Stewbing of Seguin and Betty Sue Meckel of New Braunfels, Texas; five grandchildren, Amy and James West of Odessa and Bobby, Monica and Jennifer Janosick of Odessa.
