Moore ODESSA - Services for J.D. Moore, 77, of Odessa will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Emmitt Bernard officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Moore passed away at his residence Monday, Sept. 23, 2002. He was born April 11, 1925, in Denison, Texas, to John and Dicy Adline Moore. He married Liz Easley on March 28, 1970, in Odessa. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), Victory Ribbon and two overseas bars. Mr. Moore drove a rig-up truck for Johnn Drilling until retirement in 1989. He was a lifetime oilfield truck driver. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He has been an Odessa resident since the early ‘50s, moving from Hobbs, NM. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gary Dennis Moore of Austin, Robbie Linton of Henderson and Tommy Linton of Burnet; one daughter, Linda C. Wier of Marble Falls; one brother, Marshall Thomas Moore of Pilot Point; two sisters, Viola James of Hobbs, N.M. and Bernice Sherman of Muskogee, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Gerald Leslie Hooper ODESSA - Gerald Leslie Hooper, 84, of Odessa passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at the Veterans Home in Big Spring. He was born April 10, 1918, in Cass County, Texas. He was a long-time resident of Odessa and was transportation supervisor for CSI, retiring in 1982. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loraine Hooper in 1980; parents, Samuel and Earl Hooper; and brothers and sisters, Willard Hooper, DeLois Harper, Boyce Hooper, S.L. Hooper; and Opel Lee Vancil. He is survived by sons, Jerry Hooper and wife Debbie of Clyde and Steve Hooper of Odessa; daughters, LaDonna Raglin and husband Jerry of Odessa and Kathy Hawk and husband Endgate of Clyde; brother, Don Hooper of Odessa; sister, Justine Bailey of Sundown; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Jeffrey and Rusty Thomas, Dustin, Brandon and Luke Hawk, Jerry Don Hooper and Casey Hooper. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 25, 2002, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Breana Nicole Singleton ODESSA - Breana Nicole Singleton of Odessa passed away on Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, in Shreveport, La. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Ray Brown officiating. She is the infant daughter of Dana Singleton. She is survived by her mother, Dana Singleton; grandmother Sedona Lubkeman of Odessa; uncle, Chad Singleton of Odessa; cousins, Corgan Singleton and Jacob Singleton, both of Odessa; great-grandfather, Victor Lubkeman of Casper Wyo.; great-grandmother, Judith Langley of Elko, Nev.; and several great aunts and uncles.
