All rights reserved =========================================================================== Wednesday October 02, 2002 Marjorie Cannon HOUSTON - Marjorie Cannon, 91, entered eternal life Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Cypress Fairbanks Hospital. Funeral arrangements are being entrusted to Klein Funeral Home in Houston and Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Odessa. Visitation in Houston will be today, Oct. 2 from 10 to 11 a.m. at John Wesley United Methodist Church followed by funeral services with Dr. Keith Jenkins officiating. In Odessa, visitation will be Friday, Oct. 4 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel at Sunset Memorial Gardens followed by funeral services and burial with the Rev. Curtis Brewer officiating. Marjorie was born to Ollie and Andrew Mershon on Jan. 22, 1911, in Sasakwa, Okla. She married V.L. Cannon Fr. on Aug. 22, 1930, in Amarillo, Texas. In 1945, she moved to Odessa where she lived for 57 years. Marjorie was a devoted mother and wife who took an active interest in the activities of her family. She enjoyed writing poems to celebrate special occasions and just for fun. Her family is blessed with this rich legacy of her love, concern and humor. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Fidelis Class for over 52 years and served as a docent at the Presidential Library. In May of this year, she relocated to Houston and enthusiastically accepted the challenges of a new home and lifestyle. Marjorie was preceded in death by brothers, Samuel and Laverne; grandson, Brett; and her husband of 64 years, V.L. She is survived by sons, Jerry and wife Molly of Granbury, Larry and wife Suzy of Wimberley and David and wife Dianna; daughter, Diane Myers and husband John; and nephew, Jackson Mershon and wife Loreen, all of Houston. Marjorie was affectionately known as "Granny" to her 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Scott Cannon, Wick Cannon, Andrew Cannon, James Atkins, John Myers, Kyle Smith and Russell Livingston. Marjorie is loved by her family and will be greatly missed. Louis E. 'Mac' McLeaish ODESSA - Louis E. "Mac" McLeaish, 81, of Crane passed away Monday, Sept. 30 at the Desert View Manor in Crane. He was born Oct. 8, 1920, in Boulder, Co. Mr. McLeaish had served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He worked as a lease operator for Gulf Oil and Chevron. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed painting and loved his family and spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Beulah Wolfe McLeaish in 1995. He is survived by his son, Michael McLeaish and wife K.T. of Odessa; brother, Donald McLeaish of Duncanville; sister, Julie Fazio of Beaumont; two grandchildren, Sean McLeaish of Odessa and Rebecca Oimoen and husband Mark of Marshall, Wis.; and two great-grandchildren, Kenneth and Mariel Oimoen of Marshall, Wis. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 2, 2002, at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Father Francis Frey officiating. Memorials may be made to the Ector County Library. Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Domingo Ortega Piña Jr. ODESSA - Domingo Ortega Piña, Jr. 75, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born February 13, 1927, in Fort Stockton. He married Dominga B. Villalba in 1947 in Fort Stockton. He was a retired truck driver and Catholic. He is survived by his wife, Dominga V. Piña of Odessa; son, Noe V. Piña of Odessa; daughters, Bertha V. Piña and Maria Dolores Piña, both of San Angelo, Elodia Hernandez, Natalie Reschman and Josie Bayless, all of Odessa, and Maria Alicia Murillo of Baytown; brothers, Jose Piña of Rankin and Ricardo Piña of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. The family is grateful to Dr. Larry Oliver and Dr. Felipe Porras for the care they extended to Domingo as well as to the many healthcare professionals at Medical Center Hospital, Permian Basin Dialysis Center and Infusion Home Health Center, who lovingly cared for him. Thanks also to the many family members and friends who have accompanied us over the years. Domingo has resurrected to a new life with a new body in the dwelling place that Jesus has prepared for him in God, our Father's, house. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 2, 2002 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Frank Chavez officiating, Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
