He was born on April 22, 1944, in Pilares, Mexico, to Martin and Cesaria Baeza. He is survived by his wife, Lucy Baeza of Odessa; son, Manuel Baeza Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of La Porte, Texas; daughters; Roxanne Baeza and husband Earl Sneed of Lewisville, Texas, Rosa Linda Baeza and Melissa Kay Baeza, both of Humble, Texas, Shaya Gobert and husband Matthew of Kingwood, Texas, and Angela Denise Baeza of Odessa; brothers; Domingo Baeza of Slaton, Texas, Jacinto Baeza of Esmeralda, Mexico, Anastacio Baeza of Stanton, Texas, Miguel Baeza of Bloomington, N.M., and Martin Baeza of Aztec, N.M.; sisters, Margarita Gomez of Midland, Maria Barragan of Odessa and Paula Nunez of Midland, grandchildren; Kendrick , Broderick and Lilah Sneed, Judas, Jonathan, and Jacqui Chavez, Sarah Arriola, Amanda, Isaiah, Janell, Calderon and Stephany Ortega, Matthew Gobert and Emily Margarite Baeza. Services by Odessa Funeral Home. Winona Gabrel Hicks Fincher ODESSA - Winona Gabrel Hicks Fincher, 72, of Odessa passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at her residence. She was born Feb. 19, 1930, in Old Glory, Texas. Mrs. Fincher moved to Odessa in 1936 from Rule, Texas. She was a retired cashier and was Baptist. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Lela Gabrel; husband, Joseph F. Fincher; son, Blake Hicks; and sister, Margie Hogan. She is survived by her son, Brad Hicks of Big Spring; daughters, Debbie Pitkin and husband Mike of Andrews and Brenda Abalos and husband Larry of Odessa; brothers, A.M. "Slim" Gabrel and wife Lorena of Odessa, Pug Gabrel and wife Helen of Granbury and Burl Dean Gabrel of Alamogordo, N.M.; sisters, Ina Mae Johns of Odessa and Imo Jean Fuller of Alamogordo; six grandchildren, Bryan and Dana Hicks of Fort Hood, Mark Pitkin of Midland, Aaron Pitkin of Andrews, Emily Hicks of Big Spring and Mason and Jason Abalos, both of Odessa; three great-grandchildren, Megan, Joshua and Briana Hicks; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Wayne Dale Hawthorn CRANE - Wayne Dale Hawthorn, 73, a resident of Crane, Texas, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002. Wayne was born March 14, 1929, to J.T. and Dollie Perry Hawthorn of Indian Creek, Texas. After graduating from Brooksmith High School, he entered the U.S. Army in 1950 and was discharged in 1955. He married Helen Moore Fletcher, his wife of nearly 45 years, on Nov. 15, 1957, and moved to Crane, Texas, in 1961. Crane Well Service/Pride employed him until retirement in 1991. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Edythe Mitchell; and two brothers, Perry and Billie Fred Hawthorn. Survivors include his wife, Helen Hawthorn of Crane, Texas; his sister, Yvonne Wise of Odessa, Texas; his six children, Carol and Leroy Adcock of Ozona, Texas, Glen Fletcher of Houston, Texas, Kathleen (Fletcher) Walker of Gardendale, Texas, Mary Whiddon of Monahans, Texas, Donna and Mike Chapman of Lewisville, Texas, and Dale and Lori Hawthorn of Crane, Texas; eleven grandchildren, Tracye and James Fuller, Sean and Brandy Peek, Sunni Turner, Lora Turner, Kyle, Katrina, Ashley and Michael Hawthorn, Travis Whiddon and Shane Chapman; three great-grandchildren, Heather and Stassi Fuller and Julia Peek; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be performed at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Indian Creek Cemetery in Brown County. Matthew Paul Kirby ODESSA - Matt Kirby stepped into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Nov. 3, 2002. Matt was a lifelong resident of Odessa and a member of First Baptist Church. He attended Permian High School and was currently a student at Odessa College. Matt is survived by his loving parents, Ron and Cathy Kirby; sisters, Amanda and Raechel Kirby; grandparents, James and Cle Butler and Ray C. Kirby; and aunts and uncles, Karen Horne and Scott and Lory Butler. Matt is also survived by his loving girlfriend, Jennifer Bellis as well as many cousins and friends. Eva Rodriguez ODESSA - Eva S. Rodriguez was born in Pecos on March 30, 1925, to Augustina and Rafeal Sais. She passed away at her residence on Nov. 1, 2002. Eva was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Eva was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Esteban Sais and Francisco Sais; four sisters, Theodosa Lara, Francisca Payanes, Paula Salcido and Maria Abila; daughter, Anita R. Aranda; and two grandsons, Rudy R. Madrid and Benito R. Aranda. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Alfredo Evaro Rodriguez of Odessa; daughters and sons-in-law, Rosa and Joe Ortega, Cecilia and Basilio Madrid, Susie and Ruben Benavides and Augustina and Jose Rodriguez, all of Odessa; 18 grandchildren; and 37 great-grandchildren. Wilson Funeral Directors, hosted by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Doris Nell Betts HIGHLANDS - Doris Nell Betts, 67, of Crosby, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 3, 2002. Doris was born March 15, 1935, in Ranger, Texas, to Clarence and Levern King. Doris was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Crosby. She enjoyed arts and crafts and was artistic. She also enjoyed bowling, fishing, cooking, watching old westerns such as Roy Rogers, John Wayne and Gene Autry movies, playing Pokeno and playing with her dogs Scrapper and Poncho. Doris’ biggest joy came from spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her loving husband, J.W. Betts Sr.; father, Clarence E. King and son, Eddie Betts. Doris is survived by her children, J.W. Betts Jr. and wife Theresa of Dayton, Texas, Jan Kilgore and husband John of Crosby, Texas, Randy Betts and wife Laura of Sachse, Texas, and Shari Alexander and husband Scott of Crosby, Texas; mother, Levern King of Ranger, Texas; sister, Carole Smith and husband Ronnie of Midland, Texas; grandchildren, Rebecca, Jenny, Jason, Cameron and Hayley; and many other relatives and friends.
