He was born February 10, 1934, in Cedar County, Iowa, to Nichols Bennett Beuter and Margaret Francis Barry. Robert married Marie Elaine Tuminaro Oct. 13, 1992, in Odessa. He was a farmer and truck driver for Champion Technologies and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Odessa. He graduated in 1951 from City High School in Iowa City, Iowa. He served in the Iowa National Guard from 1952 to 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark Beuter; and brother, Thomas Beuter. He was born November 21, 1969, in Odessa to Bill and Beverly Blackburn. He served in the Army National Guard, was a member of Faith Community Baptist Church, and was a truck driver. Of his enjoyable hobbies besides scubadiving and skydiving, one of the most important ones was fishing with his pal, Dad. He is preceeded in death by his grandfather, Woodrow Freeman. [040303jack.gif] Jack Stanley Lee Sr. CRANE Jack Stanley Lee Sr. passed away peacefully from this life, at home, surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 1, 2003. He was born in Desdemona, Texas, on May 30, 1926. As a young man, Jack honorably served his country in the Army during World War II. As a long time resident of Iraan, Jack raised his family and worked as a plant operator for Marathon Oil Company. Following his retirement, Jack moved to Houston, Texas, where he would spend 21 golden years. By the grace of God, Jack survived a stroke in late 2002 which was followed by a short battle with cancer. He will be laid to rest near his mother and father at Fairmount Cemetery in San Angelo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward A. Lee; his mother, Lucille Lee; a brother, George Lee; and a sister, Barbara Smith. [040303ruben.gif] Ruben Galindo ODESSA Ruben Galindo was born July 30, 1952, in McCamey, Texas, to Amador and Merce Galindo. Ruben passed away on Monday, March 31, 2003, in Lubbock. Ruben was the past owner of Sunset West Dry Cleaners for ten years. He had previously worked for Chevron for 11 years. Ruben was always a positive guy, who went around with a smile on his face everywhere he went. Ruben loved to make people smile with his jokes and make people laugh when he would pull his little pranks. Everyone who knew Ruben smiled a little more and laugh a little harder. Ruben loved walking and playing with his dogs and was spiritually committed to his church and family. Ruben served as an usher at his church and also served on the church council. Ruben will always be remembered as a loving and devoted father, uncle, brother, son and husband of 22 years. We thank God for the time we had with him and for taking him so quickly without suffering or pain. He was preceded in death by his mother, Merce Galindo. Mildred was born to Herman and Luda Thackerson October 10, 1930, in Breckenridge, Texas. She moved to Odessa in 1941 at the age of 11. She drove a school bus for Ector County Independent School District for 24 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Winston L Wharton Sr. September 1, 1996; and son, Mike Wharton in 1983. Henderson, 92, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at the Crane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crane. She was born October 8, 1910, in Clarendon, Ark., to Henry and Allie Hearon. Helen attended Draughons School of Business in Little Rock, Ark., from 1935 to 1936. She entered Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth January, 1956. She earned a diploma and an associates degree in religious education from the seminary in May, 1959. She was called to First Baptist Church of Odessa, Texas, January, 1960, as Nursery Director. In September 1967, she began a Day School program in First Baptist Church and First Baptist Mexican Mission. She later became Preschool Director, then Childrens Director, working with ages birth through sixth grade. She retired from this position November, 1975. She married Richard Henderson January 27, 1962 in Odessa. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Henderson on April 17, 2001; brothers, Willie and Little Buddy Hearon; sister, Ruby Hearon. She is survived by her son, David Hank Emmons of Big Spring; grandson, David Emmons of Austin; and great-grandson, Preston Coy Emmons of Mississippi. He was born November 22, 1951, in Burlington, Vt. John graduated from Permian High School in 1969 and later received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He was the owner of Sirloin Stockade Restaurants in Hobbs, Carlsbad and Albuquerque, New Mexico, for over 15 years. He and his wife returned to Odessa three years ago. John loved to fly. He never met a stranger. Anything that anyone asked him to do, he would gladly assist them. He was a friend to everyone. His constant companions were Tex, Cooter and Oreo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John F. Muxworthy Jr., Virginia Muxworthy and his father-in-law, Lue Tennison. He is survived by his wife, soulmate and best friend of 20 years, Barbara Muxworthy of Odessa; step-son, Dr. Todd Odom and wife, Maria, of University Park; brother, Neil W. He was born on Sept. 29, 1924, in Fort Worth to Bruno and Lovie Frady. He was Methodist. Delbert was a telephone installer and worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 33 years, retired in 1983, and was a member of the Pioneer Club. He co-owned and operated S&F Feed Store for five years. He had a shop in the back yard where he enjoyed tinkering. He was known for his funny sense of humor and witty sayings. He was reared in the Fort Worth area and married Inez Wright on March 29, 1943. Survivors include his son, Don Frady and wife, Pam; daughter, Cheryl Tucker and husband, Steve; and grandson, Andy Tucker, all of Odessa; brother, Ernest Frady and wife, Jennie, of Fort Worth; sister-in-laws, Norma Glover of Richland Hills; Bernice Pruett of Bloomington; and Pauline Blanke of Gordonville. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Adrian Garrett, on Oct. 19, 2001. Jean had earlier lost her mother, Minnie Stewart and her sister Jewell LeBeau. Jean was born (Imogene Snow) on May 15, 1926. During World War II, she married Adrian Garrett and the couple soon had a son, Bill Garrett and then a daughter, Patricia Jo. After the war, the couple settled down in Odessa. Jean was first a homemaker, then the Cafeteria Manager at ECISDs Sam Houston Elementary for some 20 years. She retired and enjoyed the rest of her life at home with her husband. Jean is survived by her son Bill Garrett of Salinas, CA; daughters, Patricia Jo Gibson of Houston and Gina Garrett of The Colony; sister, Leola Wells of Oklahoma; and brother, Joe D. Snow of Odessa. Her grandchildren are Michael Lee Gibson of Midland, Barbara Gibson of Houston, Lisa Bogie of Frisco and Larry Garrett in Germany. [040503lena.jpg] Lena Elizabeth Stokes Knight ODESSA On Jan. 7, 1924, J.L. and Nancy Elizabeth Stokes gave birth to their first child, Lena Elizabeth Stokes Knight, in Westbrook. Lena went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Hospice House in Odessa. Three years after Lenas birth the small family rejoiced when Lenas little brother, W.C. (Dub) Stokes was born. Lena and her family grew up in Cheyenne, a small town north of Kermit. She graduated from Kermit High School in 1942. After graduation, Lena met and married Walter Edmonds. They gave birth to their first child in 1946. Walter preceded Lena to the golden gates of Heaven in 1948. In 1950, Lena was united in marriage to John Vernon Knight and moved to Jal, N.M., where they settled and raised their four children. After twenty-six years of marriage, Lena turned her beloved John over to the wonderful strength and tender care of Jesus Christ. Lena was a forty-eight year resident of Jal and in 1998 she moved to Midland where she spent her final years with the dear residents of Saddleridge Lodge. Lena was a loving wife and mother who dedicated her life to raising her family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jal, N.M. and a retired clerk for El Paso Natural Gas. On the day Lena went to be with the Lord she was lovingly reunited with her mother and father, husband, Walter and husband, John. Lenas family includes children, Walter Lynn and Linda Knight, Nancy Knight, Gerald and Margie Knight and Don and Teresa Knight. Grandchildren, Justin and Stephanie Knight, Leann Knight, Angie and Tim Simmons and Kristie Asel. Great-grandchildren, Allison Ledesma and Courtney Simmons. Brother, Dub Stokes. She was born May 18, 1931, in Weatherford, to James and Esta Davidson Woods. Mary was a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes include baking, pouring ceramics, jigsaw puzzles, and cooking for the kitchen of the Latter Rain Church. [040503john.jpg] John Muxworthy III ODESSA John Frederick Muxworthy III, 51, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital. He was born November 22, 1951, in Burlington, Vt. John graduated from Permian High School in 1969 and later received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. He was the owner of Sirloin Stockade Restaurants in Hobbs, Carlsbad and Albuquerque, New Mexico, for over 15 years. He and his wife returned to Odessa three years ago. John loved to fly. He never met a stranger. Anything that anyone asked him to do, he would gladly assist them. He was a friend to everyone. His constant companions were Tex, Cooter and Oreo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John F. Muxworthy Jr., Virginia Muxworthy and his father-in-law, Lue Tennison. Tommy was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Erie, Pa., to Thomas and Lettie Cunningham. After the death of his mother, Tommy was adopted by Roy and Mae Schwartzcop. Tommy proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy and serving during World War II. Tommy married Stella Cato June 3, 1950 in Houston. He earned his degree in electrical engineering from the University of Houston and worked for Dresser Atlas for 37 years. On July 10, 1996, Tommy came to work at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors. This was Tommys love, getting to work with all the families and his great friends at Frank W. Wilsons. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Adrian Garrett, on Oct. 19, 2001. Jean had earlier lost her mother, Minnie Stewart and her sister Jewell LeBeau. Jean was born (Imogene Snow) on May 15, 1926. During World War II, she married Adrian Garrett and the couple soon had a son, Bill Garrett and then a daughter, Patricia Jo. After the war, the couple settled down in Odessa. Jean was first a homemaker, then the Cafeteria Manager at ECISDs Sam Houston Elementary for some 20 years. She retired and enjoyed the rest of her life at home with her husband. Jean is survived by her son Bill Garrett of Salinas, CA; daughter, Patricia Jo Gibson of Houston; sister, Leola Wells of Oklahoma; and brother, Joe D. Snow of Odessa. [040603Ives.jpg] Ray C. Ives Jr. ODESSA Ray C. Ives Jr., 72, of Odessa passed away Friday, April 4, 2003, at Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was born Aug. 21, 1930 in Ingleside. Ray served in the U.S. Armys Signal Corp and later graduated from Baylor University. He worked as an assistant coach for Odessa High School and later as a stock broker and investment banker. He retired from product development after having two products patented. Ray would want everyone to know that he was saved from an alcoholic death by Jesus Christ on May 8, 1975, in Sante Fe, N.M. He was active in AA for many years until prevented by his health. He was a qualified testimony speaker for Gideons International and loved to share his story whenever possible. Ray was a Baptist by faith and moved to Odessa from Dallas in 2001 to be near his son and grandsons. He loved his apartment at Disciples Village and made many good friends there. He was preceded in death by his son, Bradley Ives, on Oct. 16, 1988. He is survived by one son, David R. McFarlen ODESSA John G. Mac McFarlen, 88, of Odessa died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at home. Mac was born November 22, 1914, in Hatchel, Texas. He was a paratrooper in the Pathfinders unit of the 101st Airborne and was the first enlisted man to land on Normandy on D-Day. Mac married Emma Lucille Minshew on February 8, 1947. They were married 56 years. He is survived by his wife, one son, three daughters, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One son preceded him in death. Mac was a cement contractor. He was a life member of the VFW Post #4372. He served as Post Commander from 1967-1968 and as District Commander from 1968-1969. Viola Florene Flo Moore FORT WORTH Viola Florene Flo Moore, 89, passed away Friday, April 4, 2003, in Fort Worth. She attended Sam Houston State College in Huntsville then taught school for several years. She lived in Odessa for about 25 years and was the owner and operator with her sister, Madge White Wallace, of the The Teen-Age Shops. She moved from Odessa to Fort Worth in 1963 and began working for Neiman Marcus, eventually becoming manager of the childrens department in the Fort Worth store. She was a faithful member of Broadway Baptist Church and later Southcliff Baptist Church. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all those who called her sister, friend, Aunt Flo and Aunt Granny. She leaves us with a legacy of faith, devotion to her family and good humor that will keep her spirit with us always. Survivors include a niece, Dr. Joy White Edwards of Fort Worth; nephew, H.C. Donald Lee Tomson KERMIT Mr. Donald Lee Tomson, loving husband and dad, departed from his Earth family to be united with his Heavenly family on Friday, April 4, 2003, after a brief bout with cancer. He was 69. Donald was born on Thursday, Dec. 28, 1933, in St. Joseph, Mo., to the late George and Buelah (Hughes) Tomson. He was mayor of Wink for several years, where he spent his career working for Chevron Pipeline USA as an electrical technician and raising his family. After living in Colorado for a short time, he returned to West Texas. Before retiring, he enjoyed managing the Winkler County Pro Shop and golfing almost daily. As a Christian, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kermit. Donald married Dorothy Zikuhr on June 10, 1960 in Eagle Lake, Texas. She lived in El Paso for many years, and she also had a second home in Ruidoso, N.M., that she went to for enjoyment. She spent the rest of her life in Odessa, Texas, with her daughter. Neomia and her beloved husband, Guy W. Harper, were married for 57 years. She was a homemaker and a beautician. She loved to sew and knit and her family was always first in her life. They owned an apartment complex for 37 years. Together, they moved into the home they built to retire in. She is survived by two sons, Guylee Harper of El Paso and James L. Harper of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a daughter, Brenda K. Pierce of Odessa; two sisters, Jewel Lutich of Tornillo, Texas, and Loree Richards of Carlsbad, N.M.; two brothers, W.T. Russell of Alamogordo, N.M., and Raymond Russell of Pawhuska, Okla. She was very close to her brothers and sisters and loved them dearly. She was born December 26, 1922, in Lindale, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Coleman Curry, her mother, Versie Hicks Hoodenpyle, step-father, Thomas Hoodenpyle, and her brother, Billy Curry. Bobbie worked for Medical Center Hospital for 35 years as an assistant O.R. Supervisor, prior to her retirement in 1987. Bobbie was a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army during World War II. Mrs. Curry is survived by her long-time friend of 40 years, caregiver, and guardian, Oralia Lollie Castelo; her nieces, Barbara Wester and husband, Ronnie, Ann Sroud and husband, Mike; sister-in-law, Sylvia Curry; and two great-nephews, all from Amarillo. Another long-time, surviving friend, who through Bobbies generosity and genuineness, saw her as a second mother, is Jerome McChristian, wife Kim, and daughters Kayla and Haley. Mrs. Curry touched many lives and will be greatly missed. She was always ready to lend a hand, helped countless through her work as a nurse, and even more through her life as a friend. She had been a resident of Parks Nursing Home for the past one and a half years. A memorial will be held at Odessa Funeral Home at 6 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2OO3. She will be interred at Highland Park Cemetery in Borger, Texas. Special thanks to Parks Nursing Home Staff, Medical Center CCU, 4C Staff, Home Hospice Staff, Drs.: OHearn, P.V. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jim Leascher officiating. Lewis was born in Bell Co., Texas, Sept. 24, 1912. He grew up in Haskell, Texas, where he married Zula Gay Matthews in 1935. Daddy, affectionately known as Papa was a very hard working, fun, loving carpenter and building contractor, but was a farmer at heart, planting gardens and fruit trees. He loved fishing on the Rio Grande and had many outlandish tales he enjoyed sharing. Daddy loved people and had many friends, who, with his family know what a very special spirit he had. Daddy and Mother loved each other very much and are now in the Lords prepared mansions for them. He was the best father God could have given us and taught us the right way. His memory will be forever in our hearts. Thank you Lord for taking him home. She was born August 14, 1913, to William and Ida Mae Holder in Oklahoma City, Okla. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree from the University Of Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she had worked as an Elder and a Sunday School Teacher. She was active in the Republican Womens Organization. She also served on the Board of C.P.W. and as an Election Judge. She had served as P.T.A. president at Lamar Elementary School when Gayle Smith was the Principal. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin A. Weston in 1964; son, William C. in 2000; and brother, Billy Everett Holder in 1986. She is survived by her sons, Rev. Robert Weston of Huntsville, Ala., and Mark A. Weston of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Delores Weston of Grapevine; three grandchildren, Michael Eric Weston, Catherine Irene Olfers and Robert Andrew Weston; and four great-grandchildren. Aragon Our father, Osbaldo H. Aragon of Odessa made his journey to be with the Lord on April 11, 2003, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on October 29, 1953, in Pecos, TX to Alicia Herrera. He touched everyone he met with his laughter and his wit. Obie was employed by Oxy Permian, USA in 1973 and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. His loves included his family, softball, cars and oldies music. His passion for life and his strength to live were some of his greatest attributes. Obie is survived by his wife Estela Aragon, four children, Rebecca Aragon Rizo, Stephen Osbaldo Aragon, Erica Lisa Aragon and Christian Lee Aragon; four granddaughters, Hailea Aragon, Malone Lara, Zandria Aragon and Tabitha Aragon; three sisters, Yolanda Aragon, Olga Jacobs and Aurora Aragon; and goddaughter Heather Dominguez. She was born Feb. 14, 1946, in El Paso. She retired as a secretary for the City of Odessa and was a Baptist. She is survived by her sons, Anthony Thomas Brueckner of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Jason Welsey Brueckner of Odessa; her daughters, Rayetta Murray of Midland and Sarahjane Brueckner of Odessa; a brother, Danny McClure of Houston; a sister, Rose Marie Berry of California; 11 grandchildren; her very best friend, Carolyn Firebaugh of Odessa; and many other wonderful friends. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Dennis officiating. A private burial service will be held. James Jim [041503james.jpg] Williams Davis KAW CITY, Okla. James Jim Williams Davis, age 89, of Odessa died Monday, April 14, 2003 in Odessa. His parents were Jim and Lola Davis. He was born May 24, 1913, in a tent near the town of Electra, Texas. He married Audrey Lucille Heffron July 7, 1936 in Newkirk, Okla. They were high school sweethearts and were married 62 years. Audrey passed away December 2, 1998. He was also preceeded in death by a son, James Edwin Davis in 1939; and a brother, Earl T. Davis in 1954. Mr. Davis graduated from Kaw City High School in 1932. He attended Draughons Business College, in Tulsa, Okla., Tonkawa Jr. College in Tonkawa, Okla.. and Phillips University in Enid, Okla. He went to work as a laborer for Phillips Petrolem Co. in October 1936 at Edmond, Okla. During the next 41 years he held many job titles and worked in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas areas. After spending 17 years in the Hobbs, N.M., area he retired as District Superintendent over the Hobbs area. He was a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Odessa. Services will be at 10 a.m. at First Methodist Church in Kaw City, Okla., with Rev. Allen Jones officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Kontawa, Okla. Mr. Davis is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Earl L. and Mary Margaret Davis of Odessa; grandson and wife, Jimmie E. and Amy Davis, and their two children, Jimmie Earl and Lexie Lyn Davis of Edmond, Okla.; granddaughter and husband, Mary Elizabeth and Bronson Gatlin, and their two children, Alicia and Brandon Gatlin of Odessa. [041503kacey.jpg] Kacey Brooke Mahan ODESSA Our beloved Kacey Brooke Mahan went to be with our heavenly father April 11, 2003. She was born on August 9, 1986, to Dudley Mahan and Mary Linda Mahan. We will greatly miss our beloved and sweet Kacey and though her days with us were short she filled our hearts with a lifetime of memories and love. Kacey was blessed with such a sweetness that touched the lives of all she met. May God hold her in his arms until we see our sweet Angel again. Kacey attended Odessa High School as a junior and achieved many accomplishments. She was in the Honor Society and Whos Who among American High School Students. Kacey loved playing the violin in Orchestra at O.H.S. She was also an active member of her church Youth Group and Dance Ministry. We love you sweet Kacey. She was born to Jim and Flossie Hickman on April 17, 1919, in Caddo, Texas. She married Edwin Eddie Earl Myers on June 30, 1937. He preceded her in death on March 9, 1957. She is also preceded by all of her brothers and sisters. She was dearly loved by her family that survives her which includes her children, Judith Faye Driggers and husband, John, of Bronte, Edwin James Myers and wife, Mary, of Whukan, China, and Edward Paul Myers and wife, Janice, of Searcy, Arkansas; nine grandchildren, Julie King, Jorita Mills, Candice Siklosi, Melanie Malone, Christy Myers, Eddie Myers, Jason Driggers, Ethan Myers, and Carolyn Brooks; 16 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. [041503mivan.jpg] Mivan Woodfin SAN ANGELO Mivan Arcola Shipman Woodfin, born August 13, 1937, in Eagle Pass, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 12, 2003. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Natalie Jaree Woodfin; brother, Michael Lang Shipman; and sister, Myrna Haney. She is survived by her loving husband and soul mate of 47 years, Lloyd Neal Woodfin Sr.; two daughters, Pamela Beth Bethune and Arcola Diane John and her husband, Haydn; and two sons, Lloyd Neal Woodfin Jr. and his wife, Sheri, and Jarrod Lee Woodfin and Angelica Chavez. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jerry Don Woodfin and his wife, Danielle, Heather Janae Kwolek and her husband, Aaron, Shannon Denise John, Brandon Matthew John, Whitney Evette Woodfin, Davis Neal Smith Woodfin and Elijah Daniel Woodfin; and great-grandchildren, Jaylea Nicole Woodfin, Samantha Nicole Holley, Dawson Jack Woodfin and David Michael Kwolek. She is also survived by two brothers, Ed Shipman and Royce Shipman; sister, Veneta Herrington; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Melvin Ray Herrington, Doug and Nell Woodfin and Sherry Hasty; and her many nieces and nephews. Lloyd and Mivan were married on October 3, 1955, in Carlsbad, N.M., and were never apart for more than a day. They loved each other dearly and were an example of a perfect marriage. Mivan was the best wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister that anyone could ever hope for, and she loved everyone with all her heart. She was loved more deeply than she could ever imagine, and she will be missed greatly until we meet her again in heaven some day. Mivan was superwoman. The only thing she could not do was fly; she is complete because now she can do that. We love you, Maw Maw! She was a member of Baptist Temple Church and her faith in the Lord was an inspiration to all her family. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at the Baptist Temple Church with J. D. Skip Woodfin officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery.
