[061703robin.jpg] Robin Dane Allen ODESSA With great sorrow I inform our extended family, Tae Kwon-Do family, and friends of the loss of my beloved son, Robin Dane Allen. Robin was suddenly taken from us in a tragic accident on June 13, 2003, while visiting his extended family in Corpus Christi. Robins greatest passions in life were family, friends, his love of music and Tae Kwon-Do. Robins passion for music was only superseded by his talent to create his music, and share it with others. Through Robins guitar he poured out his heart and soul. He expressed his feelings in the music he created and played. Robin had planned to pursue his love of music at Texas A&M Corpus Christi this fall, and Robins future goal was to be a studio and performing musician. Robin was born November 16, 1982, in Odessa, Texas. He graduated from Odessa High School in 2001. While at OHS he was named ECISD Outstanding English Student 2001, was a member and Team Captain of the OHS Academic Decathlon Team, a member of Jazz Band, and participated in the OHS Marching Band. Robins second home was Nunezs Tae Kwon-Do Studio. He began his training at the age of five and reached the goal of second Degree Black Belt under Master Fabian Nunez. Robins accomplishments and accolades included: Assistant Instructor, Milam Elementary Tae Kwon-Do Instructor, and numerous awards for his performance at local and national tournaments. Robin was a certified referee, a founding member of the American Tae Kwon-Do Federation International and a Gold and Bronze medalist at the US National Tae Kwon-Do Championships in 1999. Robin was known to all as a dedicated, loyal, and conscientious student, as well as a patient, passionate, and knowledgeable instructor. He was a role model and mentor to many young adults. The Tenets of Tae Kwon-Do are: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Spirit. Robin exemplified these tenets in his life. Robin faced the challenges associated with youth and developing into a young adult, and making the right choices and being a role model was not always the most popular or easiest avenue. However, Robin chose to have a positive impact on his peers and the children he had the opportunity to work with. His talent and knowledge were an asset to all. Robin is survived by his mother, Peggy Allen; grandmother, Nell Day, grandfather Charles Harwell of Odessa, and brother, Russell Allen and his fiance, LDon OBannion of Frisco.; his uncle and aunt, Larry and Leslie Harwell of Paris, uncle, David Harwell of Washington, D.C., and aunt, Kris Farrow of Houston; and as Robin always referred for all practical purposes, my dad, Fabian Nunez, and the Nunez family, his long time and dear friends, the Estradas; Claudio, Pat, Adrian, and Jay and Jennifer, and his extended Tae Kwon-Do Family. In lieu of flowers or any sign of sympathy and love, the family needs assistance with the final arrangements for Robin. If you would like to make a donation please send or drop by your contribution to Western National Bank, 2710 N. Grandview, Odessa, TX 79762. Send to Peggy Allen c/o Robin Allen. The services for Robin are as follows: Viewing is Wednesday, June 18, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Chapa Funeral Home 1050 S. Dixie Blvd., however, the family will be present from 4pm to 9pm. She fought hard to stay because she yearned so much to see her granddaughter, Sydney, grow up. Losing the battle, the body that housed her wonderful spirit gave up in the early morning hours of June 19, 2003. Betty Frances ODell Walker, 55, was born January 15, 1948, in Richwood, West Virginia. Without exception, those who knew Betty loved her. And if you were close to her, you were a friend for life. If you are part of the Republican Party in Ector County, you may be one of those people who, at times, loved to hate her! In Ector County the Republican Party lost the most valuable thorn in their side. You could never get by with anything in either the womens club, where she served in various offices including President, or the mens club where she was the bookkeeper. A tireless volunteer, Betty always got behind her candidate, moving full speed ahead to manage or support her choice. Two other nonprofit organizations were enriched by Bettys association: Meals on Wheels of Odessa and Permian Basin Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. She began with PBRCoADA as a volunteer; board member; then she became a VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) for the Council. Her responsibilities revolved around writing grants. Bettys work with Meals on Wheels started with volunteering to deliver meals, then as a board member. Finally, she filled the position of bookkeeper for MOW. Sydneys Mimi is survived not only by the most wonderful and beautiful granddaughter in the whole world, but also by her daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Joe Haidacher, by her son, Zachary Walker, and by one brother, Robert ODell. After receiving three weeks of basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station, he was sent overseas and did not return to the U.S. mainland for two years. While on liberty in Long Beach, CA, he met his future wife of 58 years, Gladys Atkinson Suggs. The couple moved to Odessa in 1950 where they owned and operated Suggs Dental Laboratory. Mr. Suggs was a dedicated member of the Dental Laboratory Association of Texas (DLAT) and served as its President in 1980. He traveled many miles and gave generously of his time as he assisted the associations successful effort to get state legislation passed which requires laboratories in Texas to have a Certified Dental Technician on staff in order to register with the State Board of Dental Examiners. The association recognized his leadership and contributions to the advancement of dental technology by inducting him into its Hall of Fame in 1990. [062203Walker.jpg] Betty Walker ODESSA Betty really didnt want to go. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to either Meals on Wheels of Odessa, or Permian Basin Regional Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse. A memorial service is scheduled at St. Lukes Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2003. During the service, her friends will have the opportunity to share Betty stories.
