The petit jury was dismissed yesterday and the criminal docket continued over to next term of court on account of the absence of Judge Coggin. The dinner given by the Woman's Parsonage and Home Mission Society was a most brilliant success in every particular. The dinner was most excellent and enjoyed by about 150 persons and the ladies cleared about $80. The town was treated to quite a surprise on Thursday evening--the marriage of Mr. Geo. Sink Hole Trip - A merry crowd of young men and ladies enjoyed a pleasant day at the "Devil's Sink Hole" last Sunday. Leaving town at 9 o'clock they reached the Sinkhole at dinner time 11:30. The girls and young men made themselves useful as well as ornamental and as such they got to the Sinkhole, the table (which was a large flat rock) was spread for dinner. Nine of the jolliest boys and girls to be found any where and all about starved sat down to enjoy one of the most tempting meals that was ever spread (anyway we thought so.) The dinner was grand, the young men having furnished everything heart could call for. Many jokes were passed and the trip is one to be long remembered by those who went. The boys took many snap shot pictures of the crowd. A certain young lady and gentleman were sitting off by themselves and we didn't do anything but take a snap shot picture of them. Wonder if they knew anything about it? One enjoyment of the day was that of shooting into the Sinkhole The girls would run and holler when the young men would shoot. Only three of the girls had courage enough to shoot. They think they are brave girls now. Our visitors, Messrs. Henderson and Dennis were very entertaining and jolly. We are all sorry to see them leave Rocksprings for they were pleasant visitors and we hope to have them with us again. Those who went were Mr. Walter Scott and Miss Sudie Warren; Mr. Dennis and Miss Willie Smart; Mr. Oscar Henderson and Miss Clara Axson and Misses Bradford and Ellis. We had a pleasant and most enjoyable trip, and we one and all, thank the young men for their kindness in making our trip pleasant. One Who Went. School News: We had two visitors this week. School was closed Tuesday on account of it being a legal holiday. The books for the circulating library have been ordered. Some time in the near future we expect to give an entertainment for the benefit of the Public School Library. We ought to have at least 100 books from the best authors. Green Mountain School: Below are given the names of those who have made a general average of 95 in all studies includeing deportment for the month ending October 29, 1900: Miss Alma Raney, Daisy Wright, Minnie Wright, George Raney. =========================================================================================
