Information from Peggy Brannon 2/19/2004 The Geaslin Cemetery is located on the farm originally belonging to William King Geaslin. At the time of the original recording of the burials, the farm was referred to as "once belonging to Mrs. Ophelia Geaslin Moxley." She was the 2nd wife of Joseph Jacob Geaslin, son of William King Geaslin and grandson of William Geaslin, Sr. After Joseph Jacob died, she married William B. Moxley. After Martha died, the land passed on to her son, William Joseph Geaslin. He later sold the land to Doctor Arthur Epps, husband to his daughter, Inez Geaslin. After Doctor Arthur Epps died, the land passed on to his son Lester Epps. Sometime before March 1999, Lester sold different sections of the land, including the portion that the Geaslin Cemetery is on. The current owner lives out of the county, and does NOT permit visitation. Lester Epps said that Papa Geaslin told him there were about 80 graves at the cemetery. The only list I have found lists twenty-eight (28 graves), but I know of two (2) additional graves, for a minimum of thirty (30) graves. Considering the size of the Geaslin family and the number of unrecorded burials, there is a very good chance that Papa was correct about there being 80 graves. The cemetery was recorded on October 14, 1956 by Mr. & Mrs. G. W. Pierce and Mr. & Mrs. A. L. Feltenberger. In October 2001 I (Peggy) met Mrs. Frances Ann Blocker at her home in Palmer for the purpose of purchasing two copies of the History of Palmer. When I mentioned the Geaslin Cemetery, she told me that she and James Wester visited the cemetery back during the time when the super conductor plant was being considered for Ellis Co. (they had to identify all the cemeteries). She said that she counted 78 tombstones - some of them very large and elaborate. She said there were burials from the Bell and Grimes family, which would explain why this cemetery is sometimes referred to as Bell- Grimes. This ties in perfectly with what my grandfather, William Joseph Geaslin, told Lester Epps - that there were about 80 burials at this cemetery.
