The cemetery is located 5.1 miles south of Mansfield on Highway 287.
According to long-time residents of the community, land for the St. 
Paul Church was given by the Fife family in 1894 and the land for 
the cemetery was given by William Gardner and his wife, "Aunt Susie," 
in 1881.  The first known gravesite is that of Mrs. Pearl Gainer 
(1854 - 1875).  It was the request of Mr. Gardner that the cemetery 
have a Biblical name, so in 1906, the church board voted to name the
cemetery St. Paul. (This information given in April 1981 by Joe Stone,
Ophelia Cox Woods, and Mr. & Mrs. Robert Browning.)

On November 12, 1983, the dedication of a Texas State Historical Marker 
for St. Paul Cemetery was held.  It read:

"In 1881, William Gardner deeded this site to the Mountain Creek School
Community.  This tract, which contained private graves dating from 1875,
remained in use as a public cemetery, and adjoining land was set aside for a
school.  After W. S. Fife and his wife, L. M., gave adjacent land for a
church
in 1894, the property became known as St. Paul Church and Cemetery.  Burials
here include those of pioneer area settlers and several victims of the 1918
influenza epidemic.  The school closed in the 1940s and the land was later
conveyed to the cemetery association."

The marker was a gift from Mr. & Mrs. Robert Browning.

Bedsoe, and Beryl S. Gibson.  They were published in 1986 by the Mansfield
