HORTON, Garrard
 
Born 17 November 1922, son of William Hurd Horton and Pauline M. McCain of
Milford, Ellis County. Enlisted 28 September 1942 US Army Air Corps.  Posted to
England February, arrived March 10, 1944 B-17 crewman, gunner. 786th Sqn., 466
Bomb Group.
Shot down Easter Sunday, 9 April 1944 -- 5th mission -- crashed on Lolland,
Denmark. A large stone monument was erected on the crash site, cared for for
many years by Else Rasmussen, now deceased, who witnessed the crash.
