Additional Comments: From Scrapbook of Helen Louise Whitfill Fowler Note from Dorothy Wright's family: Elizabeth Wright Elliott recalls memories of her sister, Dorothy's High School Graduation from Alma High School. One of the most important events in a young lady's life is her high school graduation and for Dorothy it must have been very memorable. She was the Salutatorian and she had the mumps. Dorothy was allowed to come to the graduation with jaws swollen, because all the other classmates had already had the mumps. Elsie Mae Wright, Dorothy's younger sister, sat onstage to read her speech, since Dorothy could not speak with the swollen jaws. To add insult to injury, when Dorothy's name was called to get her diploma, her diploma had been misplaced and was not to be found at the ceremony. However, the principal later delivered it to the house. Dorothy was very studious and enjoyed competition with her friend, Helen Whitfill, who was the valedictorian that year.
