Bevel is charged with killing a negro, Primus Bradley, near Palmer in June. This is the first of the white capping cases to come before the court. Sitting at his side was a close frined, and in the court room were many Palmer people. The jury: CA Fox, AF Hancock, Phil Bertram, GH Buchanan, Field Patterson, IN McCarter, Ned Oats, H.B. Poindexter, JB Baker, WH Bentley, Charles Allen, Clyde Turns. A.L. Ticer of near Palmer is charged with that offense and will be tried on Thursday. It is alleged by the state that Ticer and his companions in an attempt to rid the Palmer community of negroes frightened Primus Bradley away from a farm. Bradley, the negro was kille. Bullet holes through the wall showed the way in which he med death. Charles Ticer, brother of AL Ticer is charged with murder and white capping. Fate Ticer who is a renter on the same farm as Bevel, was state's principal witness. He testified that he heard John Ticer, Ernest Cox, and John Bevel planning to run the negroes on the farm away. Mrs. Bevel, was the first witness Sat. Morn. She went into the witness box with a small babe in her arms and spole clearly and distinctly of the a affairs leading up to the killing of the negro. Bevle himself took the stand and made a clear-cut statement. He denies that he was with the party who fired shots through the negro house and says that he knows the Ticer boys were planing to run the negroes away.
