Erma Lee Whitfill Weds Ferris Youth in Alma Ceremony Miss Erma Lee Whitfill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Whitfill and William Hunter Carnes of Ennis, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Carnes of Ferris, were married at 7 o'clock Sunday evening in the home of the bride's parents in Alma with Father V. Graffeo of Corsicana performing the ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a black crepe dress with matching accessories . Her flowers were gardenias. Miss Helen Whitfill, sister of the bride was maid of honor. She wore a shoulder blue dress and her flowers were a shoulder corsage of carnations. Raymond Bush attended the groom as best man. The marriage vows were solemnized before an improvised altar of English ivy and ferns. Tall baskets filled with gladioli were placed at each side. The wedding music was played by Mrs. C.A. Smith of Ennis. Following the wedding a reception was held. Cut flowers and ferns decorated the reception rooms. The bride's table, overlaid in a lace cloth, was centered with a bowl of gladiolas. Mrs. Mark Kelley presided over the wedding cake, a three-tiered cake, decorated with a miniature bride and groom. Mrs. Jack Treadaway presided over the punch service and Miss Edith Whitfill presided over the guest register. After their honeymoon in Houston, Galveston, and San Antonio, the bride and groom will be at home in Ennis. For her trip the bride chose a soldier blue costume suit with black accessories. Mrs. Carnes, a graduate of the Ennis high school, is employed with the Ennis Tag Company, and Mr. Carnes, a graduate of the Howe high school, is an employee of the T & N.O. Railroad.
