Cletus J. Besse
Killed Jan 20th
Belgian Front

Mrs. Bessie Besse of 108 W. Burnett St. Ennis has received the following message
from the War Department:

"The Secretary of War desired me to express his deep regret that you son,
Technician Fifth Grade Cletus J. Besse has been reported missing in action since
twenty January in Belgium.  Further report states he returned to duty twenty
eight December from previously reported wound. If further details or other
information are received you will be promptly notified:,

T-5 Besse was born and reared in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School. He
was employed in the S.P. Store Room before entering the service Feb 12, 1942. He
received his basic training at Camp Polk, La, went overseas in September 1943,
and landed in England.  His last letter was written January 6.

He has two sisters, Lieut Adella Besse, chief nurse Bergstrom Army hospital near
Austing and Sister Mary Eugenia of Ursline Convent in New Orleans, La; two
brothers, C.P. Besse of New Orleans, LA and R.J. Bess with the U 3 Navy in
Seattle, Wash.
