Derden Funearl Tuesday afternoon Impressive funeral services for R.W. Derden where held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Methodist Church, Rev. C.O. Shugart officiating. He paid a beautiful tribute to the deceased, dwelling on the part he had taken in the civil war. The soft folds of the old Confederate flag, which has covered the casket of a number of the members of Camp James Longstreet, was draped over the casket of Mr. Derden. It was used Sunday at the funeral of T.J. Owens and on Tuesday it was again used for this aged veteran. Mr. Derden was a member of Company C, 19 Texas Cavalry, Parson's Brigade and served through the entire four years of the civil war. After the services at the church his body was laid to rest in Myrtle Cemetery, beside the body of his wife, who had preceded him several years ago.
