J. Holcomb. The painful and protracted illness of Mr. T. J. Holcomb culminated Thursday morning in death. At 8 o'clock he breathed his last. Ennis could ill afford to lose so good a citizen. At the time of his death he held the office of Constable of this Justice precinct, bringing sterling worth and true merit to the position, and showing to his fellow-citizens what those qualities may compass in the important position of public trust they had bestowed upon him. He was a man of noble impulses and generous disposition, esteemed by all who knew him. He leaves a wife (Maggie Ratcliff Holcomb) and two children (Claude Gibson Holcomb & Olive Holcomb), of his immediate family, and three brothers (Benjamin Franklin Holcomb, Joseph Gibson Holcomb, Samuel J. Holcomb) and one sister (Sarah Elizabeth Holcomb Barnes), besides a whole community, to mourn his early death. The remains were taken to Kirkpatrick church yesterday morning, starting from this place at 9 o'clock. A funeral service was held on arriving at the church, Rev. J. A. Pace, officiating, after which the remains were buried in Kirkpatrick grave yard. Note: Thomas Jefferson Holcomb died from typhoid fever at the age of 29. He was my great grandfather. The names inserted in parenthesis are my own additions.
