Funeral services for L.R. Pittman, 52, operator of a woodsaw in Ennis for
several years who was fatally injured Friday night in a truck accident on
Highway 75 just north of Corsicana were held Sunday afternoon at 5 o'clock at
home, 507 West Linden Street, Ennis with the Rev. L.S. Ballard, pastor of the
First Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment was made at the Elm Branch Cemetery at Bardwell.

Mr. Pittman was returning from Athens with his brother-in-law, C.A. Bishop, in a
truck where they had been for a load of watermelons, and Mr. Bishop was driving.
 The truck was wrecked when they ran into another truck that was turning around
after letting out a passenger on the highway. The driver of the other truck was
not injured.

Pittman was rushed to the Navarro Clinic where he died just as he entered the
hospital.  Mr. Bishop was only slightly injured, although is suffering from
nervous shock.

Mr. Pittman was born March 4, 1883, in Burnett County and had lived in various
points of Texas before coming to Ennis about 20 years ago. He had never married
and resided with his sister Dennie Pittman 507 W. Linden Street.

He is survived by five sisters, Mrs. J.J. Moore, Reagor Springs; Mrs. Nancy
Skinover, Fort Worth; Mrs. J.M. Moore, Austin; Mrs. C.A. Bishop and Miss Dnnie
Pittman, Ennis, and one brother, Jim Pittman of Austin.

Additional Comments:
Two of his sister's names are spelled wrong.  Mrs. Nancy Skinover is actually
Schoonover and Dennie Pittman is Vinnie Pittman (nickname for Vina).
