Purcell Funeral Held Here Friday 7-28-1938 Mrs. J.W. Purcell, age 37, died Thursday night at 11 o'clock at her home 1004 North Sherman St. following an illness of more than a year. Mrs. Purcell, formerly Sallie Evelyn Oneal was born in Ennis December 10, 1900 and had lived here all her life. She attended the Ennis schools and was married here Nov 16, 1918 to J.W. Purcell, who, with six children survives, five daughters, Helen, Dorothy, Martha Le, Alice and Sallie Jane, and one son, Jack Purcell, all of the home address: also her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.D. O'Neal, four brother, Fred O'Neal of Ennis, Starley O'Neal of Houston, and Oram and Wayne O'Neal and three sisters, Mrs. Charlie Daniel, Mrs. H. Flowers and Miss Cleo O'Neal, all of Ennis. Mrs. Purcell had been a member of the First Methodist Church since she was twelve years of age. She was a member of the Ladies Auzillary of the B. of L.F. and E. Funeral services for Mrs. J.W. Purcell, who died Thursday were held Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the family residence, with Rev. J.H. Baldridge, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. The choir of the church sang the "Old Rugged Cross" and "Have Thine Own Way Lord". Interment was made in Myrtle Cemetery with J.E. Keever in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Everett Peel, Bill Autry, J.O. Rivers, George Hilliard, V.L. Pierotte of Ennis and Ray Hayden of Ferris. Among those out of town here were Mrs. J.T. Elms, Mrs. Opal Mears, Mrs. J.W. Burroughs and daugher and Mrs. Oscar Hendrix of Dallas, Wayne Nicholson, Hearne; Mrs. Ben Hayden, Ray Hayden, Mrs. Baxter, Warren Cobb, Wylie Wade and Howard Lee Stanford, Ferris; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur O'Neal and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Starley O'Neal and Mrs. Schelman of Houston; Mrs. J.G. Flowers and mrs. Joe Andrews of Terrell.
