Ruffin Died at Alma Monday Night [12-14-1925] Harrison Ruffin, 46 years old, died Monday night at 10:18 o'clock at his home at Alma, following a stroke of paralysis, with which he was stricken Monday afternnon at 3:30 o'clock. Mr. Ruffin was well known in the community in which he lived. Surviving besides his wife, is one daughter, Mrs. Ray Clark of Alma, and five brothers, Till Ruffin of Wilburton, Okla; R.A. Ruffin of Howe; Bud Ruffin and Willis Ruffin of Alma; and C.J. Ruffin of Ennis and two sisters, Mrs. W.F. Sands and Mrs. George Collard of Alma. Funeral services will be held from the family residence at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning. Burial will be made in the cemetery in Rice. =============== Mrs. Ruffin Died [Mar 8, 1953] Ennis, Texas. March 9 Funeral services for Mrs. W.H. Ruffin, 68,lifelong resident of Almas, who died at the home of a daughtere, Mrs. C.E. Best of Gladewater, were conducted at the community church in Alma. Also surviving are four sisters: Mrs. T.G. Whitfill, Ennis; Mrs. Archie Creager and Mrs. Leslie Floyd, both of Lockney, and Mrs. E. Mills, Amarillo and two brothers, Ed Whitfill and Frank Whitfill, both of Lockney. NOTE: W.H. (William Harrison) was the 5th child of Henry J. and Winnie Virginia Jinks Ruffin, who had come to Alma from Taylor Co, Georgia about 1886. He was a Blacksmith. Married April 23, 1903 - Laura Whitfill. Laura was the d/o William and Delima Whitfill. The Whitfills were among the very early settlers of Alma and had come from Kentucky around 1883.
