Ruffin Funeral services were held at Bunch Funeral Chapel at 2 pm today for Willis Cleveland Ruffin, 75, who passed away Monday at his home in Alma. [May 25, 1959] Rev. Raymond Burton, paster of the First Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was in Rice Cemetery. Born January 2, 1885, in Georgia, [Taylor County], Mr. Ruffin moved to Alma 72 years ago. He was married to Miss Willie Emma Brown on February 4, 1907. A retired farmer, he was a member of the First Methodist Church of Ennis. Survivors include his wife: five sons; Cecil Ruffin, Alma; P.R. Ruffin, Ennis; W.C. Ruffin Jr. Anson; Thurman Ruffin, Ennis; and Jack Ruffin, Englewood, Calif; three daughters, Mrs. C.E. Bell of Houston, Mrs. A.E. Kachel of Houston, and Mrs. D.D. Day of Ennis; fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one brother, R.A. Ruffin of Sherman; and one sister, Mrs. George Collard of Kerrville. Serving as pallbearers were R.J. Elliott, Ennis; Joe Wright, R.H. Kelly, E.V. Hobbs, O.L. Reeve, and Weldon Elliott of Alma. NOTE: Willis Cleveland was the son (7th child) of Henry James and Winnie Virginia Jinks Ruffin. The family moved to Alma from Taylor County, Georgia around 1886.
