Ruffin, Jr. only child of Mr. and Mrs. Claude J. Ruffin died this morning at 5:30 o'clock at the home of his parents, 1010 West Burnett Street, following an illness with intestinal influenza and pneumonia. The little fellow started to school in the fall and just before Thanksgiving developed whooping cough, which weakened his constitution making it hard for him to overcome the flue and pneumonia. He was born in Ennis May 24, 1922 and lacked four months of being seven years of age. Claude Jr was a bright, lovable little fellow. He was adored by his parents and every one who knew him. Every attention was given by attending physicians and two trained nurses, who were at his bedside day and night. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Methodist Church with Rev. W.S. Smith of Bonham officiating, assisted by Rev. S.L. Culwell, pastor of the First Methodist Church here, who is convalescing from an attack of influenza. The little body will be carried to Rice for burial there, under the direction of J.E. Keever. The active pallbearers will be K.A. Kumke, C.E. Lennon, Earl Grizzard and D. Baldridge. Relatives and friends here Thursday for the funeral services some of whom remained for the burial service today were: Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Ruffin and children of Sherman; Mrs. W.H. Ruffin of Alma, W.C. Ruffin and son, Bruce; Mrs. W.F. Sands of Alms, Mrs. Johnnie Rowe [niece of Claude] and baby of Waxahachie; Alma Ruffin, Frank Collard of alma; Mrs. Lydia Grimes of Frost [grandmother]; Mr. and Mrs. M Carroll of Waco [sister to Imogene]; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grimes of Frost, Mrs. Ellis Grimes and children of Waco; Mrs. Hester Venable and Miss Daisy Groves of Garrett; Carl Kumke of Corsicana, and Everett Lennon of Dallas. Note: Pallbearers: K.A. Kumke - Ticket Agent - Interurban in Corsicana C.E. Lennon - Alma friend - Interurban Earl Grizzard- worked with Claude at Interurban C.L. Culwell was Methodist pastor in Ennis from 1928-1931.
