G.C. Henry, pastor of the First Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. J.G. Oliver, pastor of the Methodist Church for Ward Bell, 26, who was injured while working north of Rice on a work train of Texas Power and Light Company at 1pm Saturday. He was rushed to Corsicana in an ambulance to Dr. Newton's Clinic where everything possible was done for him, but he never regained consciousness and died at 3:30pm. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Peggy and Jane; his mother, Mrs. W. H. Bell; five brothers, Fisher and Hugh Bell of Rice; Steve of Corsicana, Jesse of Wortham, Lee of Dallas and two sisters, Mrs. C.O. Barrington of Overton and Mrs. W.F. Hodge of Rice. That was one of the largest attended and saddest funerals ever held in Rice. Pallbearers were Forest Blount, Benjamin Bartlett, Sloan Wear, Lonnie Williams, Willie Ribble and Archie Briggins. Interment took place in Rice Cemetery. Among those out of town attending the funeral of Ward Bell were Mr. and Mrs. Jess Bell and Mr. and Mrs. Jess Bell, Jr of Wortham; Mr. and Mrs. C.O. Barrington and Mr. and Mrs. Graham Barrington of Overton, Mr and Mrs. Steve Bell of Corsicana, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Bell of Dllas, Mr. and Mrs. B.F. Marchbanks, and Mrs. H.M. Hodge of Chatfield, Mrs. Edwin Davant and Mrs. Willie Griffith and Mr. and Mrs. Price of Corsicana. Mrs. Ernest Boardman of Wichita Falls, Noel and Albert Reynolds of Ennis, Mr and Mrs. T.G. Wright and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Wright, Mr. and Mrs. William Fitzgerald and Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Merrill of Alma, Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Edens of McCamey, Gergory Bell of Tyle and many others. Additional Comments: Ward H. Bell was born on February 10, 1910 in Rice, Texas to William Henry and Nannie Belle Guthrie Bell. He was married to Fannie Kate Wright, daughter of Thomas Gabe and Mattie Treadaway Wright of Alma, Texas on October 11, 1931 in First Methodist Church Parsonage, Rice, Texas. Fannie Kate Wright was born on January 10, 1909 in Alma, Texas and died July 10, 2003.
