He earned 3 Bronze Battle Stars and the Good Conduct Medal. He moved to El Paso in 1946 where he met and wed his lovely wife, Willie Juanita Sullivan. He was a carpenter, foreman and builder with membership in the National Homebuilders Association. A lifelong Baptist, he was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Madora Elizabeth Edwards, 4 sisters and 1 brother. He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife, Willie, his beloved daughter and caregiver Elizabeth and his beloved daughter Kathy Shropehire, his beloved niece Carla Meirs and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends and neighors. He was also awarded the Commander General of the Naval Order and the Distinguished Service Award which is the highest honor bestowed upon a non-active military citizen. Born February 28, 1925 in San Antonio, Texas, Mr. Carter served in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a pilot for the Army Air Corp. He was injured in a freak accident while piloting toops in the Philippines and received the Purple Heart and an Honorable discharge with medical retirement in 1947. He married Geraldine yvonne Jenschke of San Antonio, tTexas in 1948 and began a long and successful printing career with A.B. Dick Company in San Antonio and El Paso. Together, Bill and Jerri had four children, Kathryn, Michael, Karen, and Timothy. He was a devoted hisband, extraordinary father, grandfather, and great grandfather and a loyal friend. Mr. Carter is survived by his beloved bride of 52 years, Jerri Carter, and three children, Kathryn Carter Nickel of Austin, Michael Paul Carter and his wife Gradys of Apple Valley, Minnesota and Karen Carter Lyon and her husband, Dr. Charles Lyon of El Paso. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy right out of high school during World War II. After the war he attended the University of Texas, received a degree in military science, and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. During his career he served in Korea, where he was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat V. He then went on to recruiting duty in New Mexico. Later he played military football as a quarterback, first at Quantico, Virginia, then at the San Diego Recruit Depot. He then coached football at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Mr. Flores spent 3 1/2 years in Lima, Peru, in charge of Security Region Four, which covered 20 countries in Latin America. He next assignment was in Okinawa, and the last was processing Cuban immigrants in Miami, where he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He stayed in Miami, and worked in maintenance administration for Eastern Airlines for 14 years until he again retired in 1981. Mr. Flores was an active member of Coronado Community Methodist Church, where he received the Harry Denman Evangelism Award in 1993. A master gardener, he was also a member of Sugar Mill Country Club and the New Smyrna Beach Municipal Go Course. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; 2 sons, James C. Borg of Oahu, Hawaii, and James W. Survived by his wife Daisy, by his son and daughter in law Dale and Sylvia McCleary, granddaughter and husband Dana and David Hood, grandson Jimmy Jay Tomlinson and great grandson Keller Grayson Hood. Services will be held in Antlers, Oklahoma. Muniz, Guadalupe P. 82, passed away Monday, March 12, 2001 in a local hospital. She was a resident of El Paso Since 1950 and was a member of the Catholic Church. Mrs. Muniz was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Muniz, sons, Ignacio Muniz, Jesus Muniz and Alejandro Muniz. She is survived by her sons, Ernesto Muniz and wife Teresa, Manuel Muniz, Leopoldo Muniz and Gregoria, and Jorge Muniz and wife Luzelva. Daughters, Veronica Sotomayor and husband Raymundo, Aurora Sanchez, Maria E.
