She was born on March 24th of 1929 in Rosales, Chihuahua, Mexico. She had just celebrated her 72nd birthday in the company of her loving family. Her late husband Jesus Urena preceded her in death, in May of 1987. Her loving sons Jose Luis, Arturo A., Gonzalo A. and Jesus A. Urena survive her. Her seven grandchildren: Steve Anthony, Cynthia Anne, Andres Jesus, Christine Yvette, Cristobal Arras, Erica Rebecca and Sarah Angelic Urena: daughters-in-law: Terry, Lupe and Katie, and her political son Charles survive her. She is also survived by one brother: Jose Ines, four sisters: Eduvijes, Marcelina, Aurora and Maria Elena and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Eufracia was devoted to her family, and was very endeared to her grandchildren. Her daughters-in-law were able to continue their careers with her help, in caring for her grandchildren. She was very creative and talented. Her hobbies were: cooking, baking, sewing, crafts and ceramics. Friends are invited to visit at Martin Funeral Home-West on Monday, April 2nd from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and attend a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Santuario de San Judas Tadeo, 4006 Hidden Way, El Paso, TX on Tuesday, April 3rd at 11 o'clock in the morning. VASQUEZ, ATALA C., 63, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2001 in a local hospital. She was a longtime resident of El Paso and was a member of the Catholic Church. Mrs. Vasquez was the owner and operator of La Colonial Tortilleria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Santiago C. Vasquez. Mrs. Vasquez is survived by her sons, Santiago C. Mr. Fox was a navigator in the Army Air Corps who served for five years in the China-Burma-India theatre during WWII. For over thirty years Mr. Fox served as president of the Fox Paint Company of Long Island. Jack and Virginia were known for their culinary abilities, their bridge-playing, and their love of Big Band music. Jack Fox was also known for his graciousness, kindness and gentlemanly behavior. He was a compassionate Christian, whose first concern was for the feelings of others. EDWIN R died Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at the Monte Vista Senior Living Center, where he had resided for the past decade. He was 94. Maj. Edwin R. Phillips was likely to greet you with a hearty ''Morgen,'' and he would almost always take his leave by saying, ''Auf wiedersehen.'' The German phrases were a small part of what he picked up during a career with the U.S. Army that took him from post-war Germany to Okinawa, the Philippines and many points in between. In the late 1950s, the Army brought him to Fort Bliss and he and his wife, Ru, an Army nurse, fell in love with the El Paso area. After a tour of duty in Korea, he returned to El Paso in 1961 and later retired from military service there. Born October 22, 1906 in New York City, the eldest of three children, he was reared in Andover, N.J. by his mother, Elmira, who was left widowed when he was 8. Known to his family and friends as both Phil and Ed, he was a graduate of what was then Montclair State Teachers College in Monteclair, N.J. A member of the National Guard, he was called to active duty in the Army and went through Officers Candidate School before the United States became actively involved in World War II. Subsequently, he spend most of the war year at the Fort Benning (Ga.) training center and in Washington, D.C. and he remained in the service when the war ended. Following retirement, he taught for 10 years at the Radford School, a private girls school located, coincidentally, near the main gate to Fort Bliss. He is survived by a son, Edwin, also known as Phil; a grandson, Ted; a granddaughter, Sarah, and a great granddaughter, Josie, all in the San Diego area. She graduated from Texas Woman's University in Library Science, 1957. She was librarian at Ysleta High School, retired after 20 years, in 1977. She lived in Lake Worth, Florida, and Dallas, Texas. Survivors include Norma T. Matthews and Bill Matthews, Reeves E. Tevis, of Dallas, Sue T.
