Mr. Heatley was born and grew up in Wading River, Long Island, New York and was the son of Theodora Eldridge Heatley and Selden White Heatley. He attended Cornell and Syracuse Universities. He served in World War II and the Korean Conflict as a Career Officer in the Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in El Paso in 1962. Throughout his life his first love was horses. As a young man he showed hunters, jumpers and rode steeplechase in the United States and Europe, including the famous water jump course at Auteuil, France Bud and Annette created the Twin Farms thoroughbred horse breeding farm next to Sunland Park Race Track. He was a founding member and past president of the New Mexico Thoroughbred Horse Breeder's Association, and a prominent figure in New Mexico horse racing for over forty years. Bud's greatest passion in the horse industry was for polo. He played the sport his entire life winning numerous tournaments, including the U.S. Seniors Indoor National Championship at Squadron ''A'' in New York in 1950. Bud is known throughout the polo industry for providing the finest polo ponies for the highest levels of the sport. Preceded in death by his son, John. He is survived by his wife, Annette; two sons, Jeff and wife Betty, Phil and wife Shelley; two granddaughters, Hayley and Lindsay; brother, Craig Heatley. WEISZ, BEATRICE L. 104, passed away Sunday April 22, 2001. She had been a resident of El Paso since 1961. She was the oldest teacher in Chicago's Retired Teachers Association. Some of her favorite memories were at Hirsch High School in Chicago and hearing from many of her former students. She enjoyed and celebrated her 104th birthday with the help of KCOS, they helped celebrate all her birthdays since she hit 100. At the age of 98, Mrs. Weisz wrote a book. She was a member of Temple Mt. Sinai and B'Nai Brith Women where she was president for 2 years. Mrs. Weisz is survived by many friends and relatives. She married Clyde Porter (now deceased) and theybecame dairy and wheat farmers and retired from that profession. In the early 70's they sold their property and built a brand new house in El Paso, Texas where they lived for the remainder of their years. She then was employed as an executive secretary at the State National Bank of El Paso until her marriage to Joseph Lowe on July 15, 1961. Mrs. Lowe was volunteer in several community organizations working with children, served as the El Paso Chapter president of the Texas Auxiliary of Professional Engineers, hostessed the State Convention in 1962, and became an active hospice volunteer following her husband's death. She placed in the Concept II Rowing Machine highest category for seniors when she was seventy- five, and was an avid walker and naturalist. Joseph Walden Lowe, Jr., a native of Las Cruces, New Mexico, was graduated with honors from NMSU in 1932, worked with Southwest Portland Cement, joined El Paso Natural Gas and retired in 1964. He had been discharged from the U.S. Army in 1945 as a Major, having earned a Bronze Medal and six stars. ISAAC, RHODA (Jesse) BASHUR passed away April 27, 2001. Born in Washington, Pennsylvania on April 17, 1910. She moved to El Paso with her husband in 1945 and was a longtime resident since. She was a faithful member of St. George Orthodox Christian Church where she was active in working very hard for the church, and played the organ for the choir church. She was a past chairman of the Annual Middle Eastern Dinner and held several offices in the church. She was a member of El Maida Court #46, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, also in the drum and bugle corps. She is survived by her husband James Isaac, Sr., whom she married in 1941. She is also survived by her sons James Isaac, Jr., and wife Francis, Samuel Isaac and wife Claudia, Edward Isaac; her adoring grandchildren Kristy Conelley, Samantha Isaac, Melissa Isaac, Amy Isaac, David Isaac, James Isaac III, Joey Isaac and Tiffany Isaac; and three great grandchildren Taylor, Rhiannon and Jett Conelley; her brother Edward Bashur; and numerous nieces and nephews.
