She was born in Lubbock, Texas on October 16, 1987, at St.Mary's Hospital. She was member of Christ the King Parish in Lubbock, where she was Baptized. She was an 8th grade student at St. Mary's- Basha Catholic School in Chandler. She loved sports, especially volleyball, basketball and soccer. She was a piano student of Trudy Bamford. She loved music, special TV shows, especially Seventh Heaven, talking on the internet with her friends, and visiting with her big brothers She attended Queen of Peace Catholic School in Mesa, AZ for 5th and 6th grade; Christ the King Catholic School in Kansas City, MO from kindergarden through 4th grade and attended Christ the King Parish where she made her First Holy Communion and sang in the children's choir. While living in Kansas City, she was a student of Christine O'Riada and won awards in Irish Dance competition. As a small child she was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Colorado Springs. For the past three years she was a member of St. Mary's parish in Chandler and had been an altar server for two years. She was Confirmed on her deathbed. We are comforted in knowing we have an angel watching over us. (480) 963-6351 DELGADO, JAIME N. was born on July 28, 1932 in El Paso, Texas. He died suddenly on October 5, 2001 after living a full and distinguished life. He was raised in El Paso, Texas. From the University of Texas, he received his BS in Pharmacy in 1954, followed by the MS degree in 1955. He then earned his PhD in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of Minnesota. He returned to his alma mater in 1959 to join the faculty at the University of Texas College of Pharmacy. Although in August of 2001, he retired after being named Professor Emeritus, he was preparing to give a lecture on Thursday when he became ill. During his tenure at the College of Pharmacy, he was a five time recipient of the Texas Excellence Teaching Award, and in 1997 was inducted as a member of the UT Academy of Distinguished Teachers. Jaime's greatest professional love was teaching undergraduate and graduate students. Generations of students fondly remember his unique lecturing style with vigorous, extensive and extemporaneous use of the chalkboard. His enthusiasm bordered on being theatrical. He was always indebted to his many students, undergraduate and graduate, for he believed that good students make a professor a good teacher! He felt his students inspired him and their enthusiasm catalyzed his. He hoped his students, family and friends ?would always be in optimal equilibrium with the protonated cationic form as an agonist to the people who interact around you.? Many of Jaime's graduate research publications were in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He served on the United States Pharmacopeia Revision Committee. He contributed to ?Burger's Medicinal Chemistry.? He also served on research study sections of the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. One of his cherished milestones was becoming editor of the Wilson and Gisvold Textbook of Medicinal Chemistry, which is now even printed in Chinese. Jaime also had the honor of being a visiting professor to the Universidad de los Andes, in Merida, Venezuela and at the Universidad Nacional de Trujillo, Peru. He was preceded in death by his brother Amadeo Delgado. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Celia, his daughter Celyna, of San Antonio, his brother Delio of New Orleans, his sister Diamantina of El Paso, his brother-in-lawAntonio of San Antonio, nieces and nephews. He was born in El Paso on January 7, 1915. He is a descendant of two pioneer El Paso families. His Father, Frank Ainsa and his Grandparents, Manuel Ainsa, Jr. and Eloisa Serna Ainsa, came to El Paso from Umatilla, Oregon in 1881. His Mother, Roselle McNamee Ainsa, came to El Paso with her Brother in the 1880's from Junction City, Kansas. The Ainsa family has a long connection to the settlement of the Southwest. Mr. Ainsa's great Grandmother was the granddaughter of Juan Bautista de Anza, Governor of the Province of New Mexico from 1777 to 1789. He graduated from Cathedral High School and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown University in 1936 and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Harvard University in 1940. During World War II he served in the United States Army. After graduating from the United States School of Military Government, he served as the legal officer to the British Military Mission in Luxembourg. During World War II he was awarded the Bronze Star, the Croix de Guerre (Luxembourg) and named to the Officer Order of the Couronne de Chene (Luxembourg) and the Officer Order of Leopold II (Belgium). Following the war, he returned to El Paso and established his law practice in the Bassett Tower. He was a member of the El Paso Bar Association during his many years of law practice. He was a member of the Board of the Mary L. Peyton Foundation and served as its Chairman. He also served as a member of the Zoning Board of Adjustment of the City of El Paso. Mr. Ainsa was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and was made a Knight of the Order of St Gregory and a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. Mr. Ainsa was an avid amateur photographer and for many years instructed numerous El Pasoans in the art of photography. He was also active in the Society of Arts and Letters. He practiced law in El Paso from 1947 to his retirement in 1995. Mr. Ainsa was principally a real estate lawyer and represented the El Paso Board of Realtors for many years. He also represented the Diocese of El Paso from 1947 to 1980. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Fraser Ainsa and his eight children (and their spouses) who are Dorothy Ainsa Schatzman (John R. Schatzman), Francis S. Ainsa, Jr. (Barbara B. Ainsa), Michael F. Ainsa (Patricia Adkins Ainsa), Mary Ainsa Bell (Robert H. Bell), Richard L. Ainsa (Desiree Rodriguez Ainsa), Kathleen Ainsa Abraham, Barbara Ainsa Carey (Tom Carey) and Stephen E. She is survived by one sister, Ara Lee Colbert of Arlington, TX, her daughters, Juawanna Newman, Angela Kay Castillo and Drexanne Troutt, and her son-in-law Robert J. Newman, all of El Paso. Mrs. Hodge had ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hodge has made her home in El Paso since moving here from Durant, Oklahoma, in 1971 after the death of her husband. She was a loving mother who always devoted herself to her children and grandchildren. Known affectionately as Granny. She was generous and loved providing little treats when her grandchildren came to visit. Although she moved many times as an oilfield wife, she always made each place feel like home, and planted many rosebushes along the way. Rosebushes flanked her front door in her last residence, and when her family sees roses, we will always remember Mama and Granny. After a long struggle with Alzheimers disease, Basilia was preceded in death by her son, Martin L. Melendez, sisters, Josefina Valdiviaand Julia Gonzalez. Basilia was a county worker where she retired as housekeeper for the El Paso County Courthouse. Bales, John C. 80, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2001 at a local hospital. Originally from Dublin, Georgia, he was a resident of El Paso since 1967. Mr. Bale's military career spanned over 30 years, serving first in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and in Air Defense Artillery from 1959 until his retirement in 1970. A veteran of WWII in both Pacific and European Theatres, Korea and Vietnam, he was at Pearl Harbor during the attack of December 7, 1941. Survived by his wife Trudy of 45 years, son Walter, daughter- in-law Andrea, brothers Thomas, James, and Emory, sister Angela and grandchildren Trudy and Crystal. Although he had a distinguished military career, he will be remembered most as a loving husband and father, and for his many acts of kindness and generosity. Her professional interests also included volunteer work with community service agencies, serving on the Board of the Circle of Life Transition Program, assisting disabled adults and children, as well as being very active with the NM Commission for the Status of Women. She belonged to the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. Norma was an avid gardener, cook, craftswoman, and home decorator. She was very athletic and participated in races, tennis tournaments, skiing, and bicycling. Norma was preceded in death by her mother, Lorenza Castro. She is survived by her husband Dr. Inez E. She was a lifelong resident of El Paso where she and her beloved late husband Jake raised their family. A graduate of El Paso High School, Class of 1940, she also attended Texas College of Mines. During World War II, she accompanied Jake around the country while he trained prior to overseas duty. Celentha was an active member in the B'Nai Zion Sisterhood, the Hadassah, and the March of Dimes. She derived her greatest pleasure from her family and many friends. Celentha is survived by her brother Leonard Blaugrund of El Paso, her two children Dr. Wayne Katz of San Diego and Janice Rosett of Albuquerque, as well as her five grandchildren Joshua and Laura Katz and Jeffrey, Matthew, and Nancy Rosett. She will always be remembered for the integrity of her principles, the loyalty to her friends, the esteem of her community, and the love of her family. She will be sorely missed. Burial will be at the B'Nai Zion Cemetery 10:00 am Thursday, October 11th. McKnight Thomas Lanier passed away Tuesday, October 9. 2001. He was born in El Paso on March 16, 1917, the son of Arthur Lanier and Frances Gillespie McKnight. He was graduated from Austin High School, New Mexico Military Institute and was awarded a BBA degree by the University of Texas at Austin in 1939 where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was awarded an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1949. He entered the United States Army in 1939, serving with the 7th Cavalry regiment and was awarded a permanent commission under the Thomason Act in 1940. He transferred to the Army Air Corps and was awarded his wings in 1941. After service in China, Japan and the Pentagon he was transferred to Los Angeles where he headed the Air Force Office of Procurement for the western states. After 17 years of service and attaining the rank of Colonel, he resigned from the service to enter private business. He was one of the founders and first president of Glenair, Inc., a company that initially designed and manufactured connectors for the aircraft industry. He served as president of Glenair, Inc. from 1956 to 1975. He married Ora Taylor Jones in 1964. After trying retirement in Lake San Marcos, California, and Saint George, Utah, they settled in El Paso in 1978. He was a member of St. Francis on the Hill Episcopal Church and Los Caballeros men's club. He is survived by his wife, Ora Taylor McKnight, two daughters, Julie McKnight Green of Divide, Colorado, Marcia McKnight Webster, of Fallbrook, California; three grandchildren, Alexandra Green, David Webster and Jason Webster and two great grandchildren and a brother, Frank McKnight of El Paso. Tom was active in the NMMI Alumni Association and served on the board of directors of the United States Cavalry Association. Born in Ptar, Syria in 1920, he later moved to El Paso where he had been residing for 39 years. He worked at La Union Furniture Company. Warnock, Janet Raye 48, passed away October 12, 2001 at her home in Timberon, New Mexico, Mrs. Warnock was born in Melrose Park, Illinois and was a lifelong resident of the area.
