Born in Gallup, New Mexico, she was a longtime resident of El Paso and employed in the manufacturing department at El Paso Laundry. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Rafael G. Cervantes; sons, Rafael Jose, Salvador, Alfredo and Hector; daughters, Irma Martinez, Maria Eugenia Gomez, Patricia Marquez and Veronica Cervantes; 22 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Alfredo and David Esquivel; sisters, Alvina Esquivel and Dolores Vera; along with several more elatives and friends. He was a long time El Paso resident and with his wife, owned and operated Bond Business School and Bond Business Equipment. He was born in Goldfield, Colorado on June 9, 1905 and grew up in the mining towns in and around Cripple Creek, Colorado. He moved to California when he was 18 and later worked for the Underwood Corporation and the Boy Scouts of America. Underwood transferred him to El Paso in 1945 as service manager. In 1950 he moved to Albuquerque, NM where he and Mr. Ranville formed Ranville-Bond Company, an Underwood agency. He returned to El Paso ten years later and with his wife founded Bond Business School and Bond Business Equipment. He loved working and even after his retirement at age 77 he visited his former customers to be sure their machines were working properly. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 64 years, Ida Mary, who passed away on April 24, 1998. He is survived by his daughters, Martha-Jean Strauss and Marcy Dougharty Jones, his sons-in-law, George Strauss and Durrell Jones, four grandchildren, Laura Mills, Loretta Eastman, John Strauss and Mike Dougharty and four great-grandchildren, Amy Mills, Kristy Eastman, Matthew Eastman and Andrew Dougharty. HELEN SUE LEONARD, 66, passed away in a local hospital on December 13, 2001 after a lengthy illness. A 44 year resident of El Paso, she was born in St. Louis, MO on October 13, 1935. She retired from Ft. Bliss in 1993 after more than 30 years of civil service with the U.S. Army. Her parents, Marion F. McDaniel and Helen A. Shaw McDaniel and her brother, James W. CLARENCE JOSEPH GLADDEN, 80, passed away at home on Sunday, December 16, 2001 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Savannah, Georgia on November 6, 1921 but moved to Philadelphia, PA where he spent his early childhood years. He was preceded in death by his parents and all seven of his siblings. He entered the military in 1942 and served with the 332nd fighter group (Tuskeegee Airmen) as a radar mechanic. After the war he obtained a degree in Electrical Engineering, married, and settled in Linden, NJ, where he became active in local politics and civic affairs including scouting. In 1972, he was asked to transfer to Mexico to establish a twin plant operation. While in El Paso, his interests turned to the church. He became a member of Grace United Methodist Church and held many positions on the Conference level. He also became a member of Gideons International. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cornelia; three children, Stephen J. Gladden of Chicago, and wife Stephanie, Andrea Grimes of El Paso, and Jill C. Mays and husband Arthur of Missouri City, TX; and six grandchildren, Stephanie and Imani Gladden, Clinton and Mitchell Mays, and Leona and Laura Grimes. Mary was born to Effie Eudora Norris Larkins and Edward DeSales Larkins in Little Orleans, MD on October 19, 1920. She graduated from Allegany H.S., Cumberland, MD, and attended Frostburg St. Teachers College, Frostburg, MD. Mary married John H. Main in 1947. She and her family resided in Cumberland and Lavale, MD; Radford, VA; Salt Lake City, UT; and Hockessin and Wilmington, DE; El Paso, TX; Hermosa Beach, CA; and Houston, TX. Mary was blessed with interests in art, anthropology, archeology, drama, gardening, geography, geology, history, literature, and nature. She was a devoted mother and a faithful friend to many. Mary is survived by son Doyon Main and wife Patricia, Houston, TX; son George Main and wife Teresa, San Francisco, CA; daughter Susan Collector, husband Skip, and grandaughters Rachel, Samantha, and Callie Collector, Hermosa Beach, CA; brother Charles Larkin and family, Waldorf, MD; and brother David Larkin, Cumberland, MD. A private funeral service is planned. Mr. Del Val was a long time resident of El Paso and retired from Kahn's Sweet Shop. Mr. Del Val is survived by his wife, Gloria Del Val; son, Sergio Del Val; daughters, Alejandrina Bauer, and Bertha Lara; 8 grandchildren, Rebecca, Aide, Gloria, Frank, Irene, Ben, Denise, and Lorraine; 5 great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Celeste, Adriana, Lauren, and Kelsey; 3 sisters, Manuela Del Val, Velia Gason, and Maria Luisa Garcia. Sinai, Veteran of World War II, and was a longtime merchant in El Paso. Preceded in death by his daughter Georgee Beth Wolf. Survivors include his wife Ida N. Wolf of El Paso; son & daughter in law Mark & Josephine Wolf of Dallas. Graveside services will be held Sunday 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Sinai Cemetery with Rabbi Kenneth Weiss officiating.
