Jaramillo (Tommie)1917-2001, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and community leader died Friday, December 21, 2001 at the age of 84. Tommie, the widow of Edward J. Jaramillo, Sr., is survived by and greatly missed by her children and their families. They include Edward Jr. and his wife Barbara, Luis and his wife Ann, Irene Jaramillo Fernandez, Gloria Jaramillo Rea and her husband Frank, Albert J. Jaramillo, and Josie Jaramillo Brostrom and her husband Forrest. Tommie is also survived by her grandsons, Jim Fernandez and Edward, Luis Robert, Tom, Mateo and Steven Jaramillo, and many nieces and nephews, including David and Sandy Rascon, Rosa Linda Munn, Patricia and Raul Cantu and Jimmy Jaramillo. A lifelong resident of El Paso, Tommie was an outstanding graduate of Bowie High School and a community leader and educator throughout her adult life. She was president of the Parent-Teacher Association at schools attended by her children and at the regional level and was honored with a lifetime membership by the national organization. She and other local parents originated the school aide program that eventually evolved into the national Head Start program. She was a charter member of the Hijas Catolicas, now a national organization. She was a founding member of Santo Niņo de Atocha parish. LEACH, 68, passed away to be with our Lord on December 21, 2001, born October 20, 1933 in Saddle River, NJ after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He is preceded in death by his son Andrew D. Leach and his grandson Sean P. Leach. He is survived by his wife Sally of Santa Teresa, NM; daughters, Teri Leach of El Paso & husband John Stewart & her children Michael and Ashley; Kathy Lara of El Paso & husband Manny & their children Wesley and Shelby; son Robert Leach, his wife Sara and their children Andrea and Caulin. He is also survived by his grandchildren Reagan and Ryan and their mother Rhonda Leach and Gavin Leach his first grandchild of Las Cruces, NM. Andrew was retired from the U.S. Border Patrol and was stationed in Harlingen, Tx, Stockton, CA, Champlain, NY, and St. Albans, VT. Mr. Prado was a member of the Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Gilberto and Maria Esther Prado. Mr. Prado is survived by his wife Margarita Prado, his sons Armando Prado and Alex Prado, and his daughters Margarita Prado, Martha Prado, Esther Prado, and Maria Prado. Other survivors include many grandchildren, great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. RITO LOPEZ, 72, passed away Friday December 21, 2001 in El Paso. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso and was a member of the Catholic Church. Mr. Lopez retired from the Civil Service. Formerly of Southington, Ohio, Colin served in the Massachusetts and Ohio National Guards for six years during the Vietnam conflict. Earning his nursing degree in 1972 Colin made his career as a registered nurse serving in many El Paso hospitals and nursing homes. A consummate professional, he will be missed by family, friends, and co-workers alike. A lover of classical, folk, and jazz music, Colin taught himself to play guitar and the fiddle. He enjoyed fine literature, philosophy, and fine art. He practiced the art of conversation with great success and was never at a loss for opinions on any matter. Colin C. Woods is survived by his former wife Linda and two sons: Russell H. Woods, also of El Paso, Texas serving in the Army at Fort Bragg and Glen H. Armando Ortiz, Tech Sgt, a former resident of El Paso, passed away December 19, 2001, in Las Vegas, NV. Armando was born to Jose Oscar Ortiz and Artemisa Yanez in El Paso, TX on November 2, 1960. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School 1980 where he was Senior class president and member of the marching band. He was active in the Boy Scouts and reached the level of Eagle Scout. Armando married Ruth E. Chavez in 1986 at Mount Carmel Church. He joined the US Air Force in 1984, and had been stationed in Frankfort, Germany; Shreveport LA; and Las Vegas, NV. He was active in his local church volunteering time and teaching CCD. He also coached youth sports. He thrived in family activities, enjoying the happiness of others. Survived by wife Ruth, son Isaac Jacob, age 14 and Amanda Elizabeth, age 10; parents Jose Oscar and Artemisa; siblings Jorge, Martha, Oscar, Luis, Ruth, Francisco, and Angel; as well as by several nieces and nephews. He was born in Pharr, Texas on April 16, 1921 to John Howard and Boonie (Williams) Estes Jr. He married Margaret Parks June 14, 1946 and spent 55 wonderful years with this beautiful lady. He worked for the El Paso Independent School District where he taught Math and was Asst. Principal at El Paso High School and Principal at Lamar Elementary. He spent 55 years in El Paso and recently moved to San Antonio. He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, the East El Paso Lions Club, Masonic Lodge 1111, and The Woodworkers Club of El Paso. He also honorably served his nation during WWII in Europe. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters (Nannie, Lucie, Martha, and Virginia). He enjoyed reading, stained-glass, camping, and his woodwork. Most precious to him were his many pets in life that brought him much joy. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a son, Col (Ret) John Howard Estes IV; a daughter, Margaret Joan Davis; a sister, Dorothy Wimberley; 6 grandchildren, John V., Tracy, Jim, Larry, Raina, and Wendi; 4 great grandchildren; and his pet dog, Black Dog. Internment of the cremains will follow at Evergreen East. Miss Wafer died Thursday, December 13, 2001, at Landsun Health Service Center in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Miss Wafer was an educator and curriculum supervisor in the Ysleta Independent School District. She devoted more than 50 years to the education of young people. She was involved in Delta Kappa Gamma, Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers, Eastern Star, Ysleta Retired Teacher's Assn., and Landsun Manor Volunteers. Miss Wafer was a member of Vista Ysleta Methodist Church where she was active as a Sunday school teacher. Survivors include Katherine H. She attended the University of New Mexico, and was the accountant for Carlsbad's Parchman Carver Hardware for many years before retirement. She was a wonderful friend, deeply loved by those who knew her. Betty was an avid sports fan and a loyal rooter of the El Paso Coronado High School volley ball and softball teams that her daughter, Julie, coached attending as many of their games as she possibly could. While raising her four children, Erlinda worked in her home as a beautician. She obtained a nursing degree in 1974 and worked at Hotel Dieu, El Paso State Center, and retired from William Beaumont Army Medical Center. She was a member of the Filipino American Association of El Paso and the Philippine Nurses Association of El Paso. Erlinda enjoyed being with family and friends. Chuck served in the European and African campaign in WWII. His reserve unit was then activated for Korean conflict. While serving at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma he met and married his wife, Beth Kerfoot in April 5, 1952. He later served with the 25th Infantry Division Schofield Barracks. After attending Air Defense School at Fort Bliss, TX he served in Europe for 6 years during the Cold War. He retired May 1972 with the following medals awarded The Bronze Star with Second Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Victory WWII, Army of Occupation WWII, National Defense Service Medal, French Fourragere, Sharp Shooter, Auto Rifle Expert Rocket Launcher. Chuck graduated with honors from El Paso Community College. Mr. Ladwig then graduated from professional Clown School as Mr. Smiley. He volunteered and entertained thousands of children and adults both locally and out of state with his magic and balloon sculptures. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, golfer, fisherman, craftsman, gardner and RVer. In addition, he was a loyal Burges Mustang football fan. Finally, Chuck was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. A member of St. Raphaels Parish and a volunteer in the Ft. Bliss Catholic Community, he served the church faithfully. She was born on November 22, 1914 in Puerto Rico; via Spain. Clorinda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed dearly. She is preceded in death by her loving husband James S. Bundren Jr. She is survived by her children: daughter, Diana Bundren Lubianski; sons, James S. Bundren III and wife Bonnie, John Russell Bundren and wife Marily. Grandchildren; Diana Beltran, James S. Cavanaugh, Lorena Behnke, John E. Bundren, Mitchell Giddens, Shana Jimenez, Rebecca Bundren and Brenna Bundren, and seven great-grandchildren. Services are pending. Mr. Deragisch was a retired U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, served for over 20 years, he also retired from El Paso Independent District at Ft. Bliss after many years of teaching. Preceded in death by wife Dorothy Mae "Sue" Deragisch. Survived by son Richard R. and wife Jan Deragisch, daughter Mary Sue Lons, grandchildren Kate, Guy, Greg, Jeff and Jennifer great grandson Brenden. Mr. Deragisch will lie in state Tuesday, January 1, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home. Chapel Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2002 at Martin Chapel. Burial at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors. William was a Proud American Patriot.
