He was a long time resident of El Paso and a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church. He was employed at the El Paso Natural Gas Company for 35 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he proudly served his country. He met Eleanor Ellis in the summer of 1953 and after a few months of courtship, were married. They remained faithfully and happily committed to one another for 47 years. He was a loving husband and father, committed to his family, as well as his family's hero. Mr. Visel is preceded in death by his brother-in-law Daniel Ellis, whom he raised as his own son; his son, John Marshall Visel, and his brother, Clifton E. Visel. He is survived by his wife Eleanor; daughters, Mary Romero and husband Tom, Jacqueline Arellano and husband Nick, and Deanna Visel; brother, Robert F. Visel; grandchildren, Thomas M. Romero, Jr. and wife Shannon, Samantha Romero, Jennifer Romero, Kayla Lechuga, Marshall John Garcia, Nick "Sonny" Arellano, and Madeline Arellano; great grandchild, Jordan Thomas Loy. Sadly missed by his family. We find comfort knowing that he has been reunited with his son John where they both together are now at peace and resting in God's loving arms. Burial will take place at Evergreen East Cemetery with military honors. MANN, LAVONIA PARK 94, passed away Monday, April 29, 2002 in Houston, Texas. She was a resident of El Paso from 1981 to 2000 and was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, John King Mann, and granddaughter, Lydia Lee Mann. Mrs. Mann is survived by her son, John L. Mann and his wife, Annabeth of El Paso, and her daughter, Sharron Venable of Houston. Mrs. Mann was a generous and loving grandmother to her grandchildren: Michael and Angela Wallace, Julie and John Bauer, Laurie and Dan Meretsky, Karen Walker, Janean Mann, Lisa and Mike Nelms, Douglas and Heidi Venable, and Charles Venable. She also had twelve great-grandchildren, ranging in ages from twenty-one to one year of age. Mrs. Mann is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Katherine Mann and Sarah Mann, her daughter-in-law, June Mann and nephews, Bill Mann, his wife, Susan, and Charles Mann, Jr. and his wife, Patti. As a young widow, Lavonia Mann was employed by Dal Sasso Real Estate Company in Orange, Texas. While living in Orange, she was a member of the First Methodist Church and active in The Altrusa Club. In 1981 she moved to El Paso to be near her family. Mrs. Mann was a faithful member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church and participated in the Golden Link social activities. Playing bridge and dominoes, gardening, and cooking were her favorite pastimes. Lavonia was famous for her pies and cobblers. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather that was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas. Mr. Ocon managed a million dollar Aerus - Electrolux Branch where he received numerous awards, resulting in world travel. He was a Boy Scout Master for Troop 727, a 1982 UTEP graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and an Excellent baseball coach for St. Pius Rams for six years. Mr. Loera was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II and was the recipient of the Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 58 and a life member of the V.F.W. Post No. 2451. He retired as a supply clerk with the Civil Service at Fort Bliss after 24 years of service. The family would like to thank the staff of Regent Care Center and Dr. Gregorio Castillo. On April 30, 2002 the Lord reached out for a good builder and summoned one of the best. His name was M.I. "BILL" TAYLOR, JR. A man known for his professionalism, his quality and his honesty. His family will always remember him as a loving father, husband as well as a role model for old-fashioned values. Bill's accomplishments were numerous. From a boy who played tackle on the football team in Del Rio to a Naval Officer who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor. Later he was attached to submarine duty in the South Pacific until the end of the war. It was then that he met and married the woman he loved Marjorie Trout from San Jose, CA; a marriage that would last more than 58 years. When he returned to El Paso, he worked for Southwestern Sash and Door Co. where his interest in design and building grew into a career that would lead him to be called "El Paso's finest home builder". Many of his homes were featured in such prestigious publications such as House Beautiful and Architectural Design. When Coronado Country Club opened in 1958, he moved his home to the area and soon became the premier builder of the west side designing and building custom homes. He developed projects such as Fountain Street, Casitas Coronado, Villa Balcones, Los Felinos, The Thunderbird Apartments and Alto Alps Condominiums located in Ruidoso, NM. As strong as he was, Bill was not able to win the battle with cancer but he fought a good fight. Berry worked at the bank as supply room supervisor, inventory control supervisor and inventory control officer. He also served as treasure of Purchasing Management Association of El Paso.
